UK snow forecast as five areas turn white on Met Office weather maps - full list Brits are bracing themselves for snowfall in the coming days after the Met Office issued a new forecast for the hours from Wednesday evening Brits are bracing themselves for snowfall this week after the Met Office put several areas on alert for wintry showers. Parts of Scotland will see snow falling in the evening next Wednesday, according to the forecaster, with the bad weather expected to continue into the early hours of Thursday. There will be snow across parts of Inverness, Aberdeen, Banf, Perth and Stirling with the band of wintry weather heading westwards from around 7pm on Wednesday until around 4am on Thursday. At its heaviest, the snow is forecast to fall at a rate of up to 4mm an hour, with the heaviest flurries coming near Aviemore early on Thursday morning. In more southerly parts of Britain, the coming week is expected to bring wetter weather. Met Office Chief Forecaster, Chris Bulmer said: "For many, this weekend brings a window of dry and bright autumn weather, with some sunny spells and light winds as high pressure stays dominant. Overnight may feel particularly chilly, and those in eastern and southeastern areas should watch out for some heavy showers. "There are signs that high pressure will loosen its grip through next week, allowing for lower pressure and Atlantic weather systems to have more influence by the end of the week, increasing the chance of spells of wet and windy weather for all areas. "There is still some uncertainty in the likely change in weather patterns through next week with details expected to become clearer over the coming days."
