Four arrests made after police officer shot in Nottingham city centre The officer was shot in the foot as he approached two suspects at a bus stop on Angel Row in Nottingham city centre and remains in hospital, police said Four people have been arrested after a police officer was shot in Nottingham city centre. The officer was shot in the foot as he approached two suspects at a bus stop on Angel Row, one of the city's busiest streets. The incident happened just before 5am on Sunday and the male officer remains in hospital in stable condition. The suspects fled the scene but Nottinghamshire Police have now said four individuals have been arrested. On Sunday evening, a vehicle was stopped by officers in the Radford area of Nottingham, arresting three of the occupants. One of the was a 27-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. A 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. A vehicle was also stopped in Bedfordshire in the early hours of this morning, with a 30-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. All four remain in custody where they continue to be questioned by detectives. A police cordon was put in place on Angel Row and, although this has now been lifted, police said officers will remain in the area to provide reassurance to members of the public and local businesses. The injured officer and his family continue to be supported by the police. Assistant Chief Constable Claire Rukas, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "A team of experienced detectives continues to work tirelessly to establish exactly what happened before, during and after this appalling incident. I am pleased that four arrests have now been made and hope this provides some reassurance to the public as those detained are questioned in connection with the discharge of the firearm. "The police cordon in Angel Row has now been lifted, and I would like to thank local businesses, residents and members of the public for their patience, support and understanding while officers carried out vital enquiries and recovered evidence from the scene. "The injured officer continues to recover in hospital and is receiving support from colleagues and loved ones. We ask that his privacy is respected at this time. Our thoughts remain with him, and with his family, friends and colleagues, who have all been affected by this deeply shocking incident."
