A man in his 50s was found dead at a property in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, with apparent chemical burns - police say his death is being treated as 'unexplained'
A man in his 50s has been found dead at a North Yorkshire home with what appeared to be chemical burns.
Police were called to an address on Franklin Road in Harrogate at around 3pm on Saturday following concerns for the man's safety.
Officers attended the property and gained entry with the assistance of North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The man was sadly found dead inside and appeared to have "chemical burns", a North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.
"As a precaution, specialist resources from the police, ambulance and fire services attended the scene to assess any potential risks," the spokesperson said.
"Following an initial assessment, it was established that there was no ongoing risk of harm to emergency service personnel or members of the public."
The death is being treated as unexplained, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
A cordon was put in place on Franklin Road, near the junction with Strawberry Dale, while police, firefighters and paramedics attended the incident, Harrogate Advertiser reported.
