We're buying more of a beaten-up stock before another overhang is lifted
Key Points
We are buying 35 shares of Boeing at roughly $191.16. Following the trade, Jim Cramer's Charitable Trust will own 620 shares of BA, increasing its weighting in the portfolio to 3% from 2.8%. We're taking some of the cash proceeds from our TJX Companies trim earlier Monday to pick up more Boeing shares ahead of what could be the removal of another overhang.

On Friday, Reuters reported the Federal Aviation Administration could approve Boeing's 737 Max 10 as soon as this week. This would be a major milestone because if the 737 Max 10 is certified this month, Boeing will likely begin delivering these jets to customers in 2027. Certification would reduce uncertainty surrounding potential delays and give investors greater confidence in Boeing's ability to generate free cash flow, the most important metric for evaluating the company's financial performance. Some reports suggest about one-third of the company's 737 Max backlog is for long-delayed Max 10 variant, explaining why this certification is such an important catalyst. The Max 10 is the largest variant in the best-selling 737 Max family and the only version not yet to be approved by the FAA. The regulator approved the smallest member of the family, the Max 7, in August . Boeing has received a series of good news over the past few weeks, including averting a strike with its white-collar union, winning a multi-billion contract with the U.S. Navy, and the FAA ruling that a Max software glitch was not a flight-safety risk , which allowed the Max 10 certification process to continue on its prior timeline. And yet, the stock is still off about 20% from its Aug 5. close, which we mostly chalk up to rising oil prices and interest rates. While elevated interest rates and commodity prices could weigh on shares in the near term, we believe the market can only overlook the positives for so long.
