Alex Scott whisked off on romantic trip by Jess Glynne days after leaving presenting role The England women's legend left the job just a month in after the show came in for criticism Alex Scott has moved on quickly after leaving her presenting role with Disney+ by enjoying a romantic getaway with girlfriend Jess Glynne. The England Lionesses legend recently stepped down from fronting Disney's coverage of the Women's Champions League after just two rounds of matches. The show came in for criticism after technical problems led to an unscheduled advert break during Arsenal's game against HB Koge. The coverage, which included a dog with 137,000 Instagram followers, was also accused of undermining the women's game and being too "gimmicky." Addressing criticism of the coverage following her departure, Scott told the Observer: "Ultimately, do I agree with all the decisions that were made? Absolutely not. Did I try and advise? Yes, but I can only do so much. "But nobody sees the conversations, the fights I have behind the scenes. But I can hold my head up and know that I've always tried my best for the greater good of women's sport." Scott, whose busy schedule includes fronting her own Women's Super League show on YouTube, has put her brief stint with Disney behind her by celebrating her 42nd with her singer-songwriter partner Glynne, who recently whisked her off to Paris. With a reel of pictures and videos from the trip, which included a Celine Dion concert, Scott wrote on Instagram: "Another year older, another year bolder! Celebrating life in the beautiful city of Paris seeing the icon CÉLINE DION! A birthday experience that hit all the right notes... My heart was full, my voice was LOUD, and my soul was HAPPY!! Paris, you were a dream….thank you @jessglynne." It's been quite a year for Scott, who saw Football Focus, the show she'd presented since 2021, cancelled by the BBC after 52 years on air. She is now focusing on her YouTube show, One More Word WSL, which she launched via her own production company, First Cap Productions. Addressing the new venture on social media last month, she said: "Four months ago, I quietly set up First Cap Productions. No big announcement, no funding, no team round a table, just an idea, built on something I've always believed: Stepping into your own power for the first time. "Your first cap. Your first opportunity. Your first time finding your voice and being brave enough to use it. That's where First Cap came from. For the last four months I've been building a new show in the background, something I can't wait to share more information on with you soon. "Then this past week I watched the women's football community explode with opinions, frustration, ideas and passion and I thought: this is exactly why I started First Cap." Without Scott, Disney's Women's Champions League coverage, which is produced by ESPN, resumes on October 28. Lianne Sanderson, Nedum Onuoha and Shebahn Aherne remain part of the presenting team, alongside commentators Jacqui Oatley and Vicki Sparks.
