Aldi has issued an urgent product recall notice for one of its Specialbuy items. The budget supermarket sells much more than just food and drink thanks to its special offers.
Its middle aisles are often filled with products ranging from toys to camping equipment, home décor and appliances. However, a "high risk" alert has been issued for a hairdryer sold in stores.
Aldi is recalling its Ambiano Ionic Hairdryers due to a high risk of electric shock. The Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) has published a recall alert to warn customers.
It said: "The product presents a risk of electric shock or fire as, over time, the power cord may become damaged, allowing access to live parts or causing overheating. If the user were to touch an accessible live part, they could receive an electric shock.
"The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016."
The OPSS added: "The product has been recalled from end users by Aldi. Consumers who have purchased the product should stop using it immediately and return it to their nearest Aldi store for a full refund."

Aldi said: "As a precautionary measure, our supplier is recalling the Ambiano Ionic Hairdryer (sold between August and September 2025) because of a technical fault.
"Anyone who bought this product should return it to their nearest store for a full refund. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
The supermarket told customers: "Do not use the product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund."
Other recalls
Last week, Mint Velvet's Raya Espadrille Wedge Sandals, which are sold by Next, were recalled due to an injury risk. The OPSS said: "The product presents a risk of injuries as the footbed can become detached from the wedge heel during use.
"If the footbed unexpectedly became dislodged during use, the user could fall, leading to injuries. The products do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005."
It added: "The product has been recalled from end users by Next. Next has contacted consumers who purchased the heels directly. Owners are advised to stop using the product and follow the instructions sent by Next to arrange for a refund or replacement."
