The Farmers’ Almanac forecast for this Thanksgiving. Here’s what to know ‘It does not look like a major nationwide storm will dominate the week’ - Bookmark - CommentsGo to comments Become an Independent member to bookmark this article Already a member? Log in Americans traveling for Thanksgiving could face snow showers in the Midwest, rain in the Pacific Northwest and cooler temperatures across parts of the West, while the Southeast is expected to see milder weather, according to The Farmers’ Almanac. Its November 23-26 outlook suggests typical late-fall conditions, with no major nationwide storm expected to dominate the holiday week. “Taken together, it does not look like a major nationwide storm will dominate the week,” the Farmers’ Almanac said in its October 19 forecast. Thanksgiving falls on November 26 this year, when millions of Americans are expected to travel to celebrate with family and friends. Rain, snow and chilly temperatures could still make travel tricky in some areas, even if a major storm isn’t in the forecast. First published in 1818, the Farmers’ Almanac issues forecasts up to 16 months in advance, using a proprietary formula that considers planetary positions, tides and sunspots. The publication also offers seasonal advice, gardening and fishing calendars, home remedies and lifestyle tips. Here’s what the Farmers’ Almanac predicts for each region for Thanksgiving: Northeast and New England The Northeast is expected to see cool, mostly fair weather over Thanksgiving, with a chance of light snow flurries in northern areas and higher elevations. Overall, conditions look favorable for holiday travel. The region includes New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Washington, D.C. Great Lakes, Ohio Valley and Midwest The Great Lakes and Ohio Valley region could see colder, more winter-like weather over Thanksgiving, with scattered snow showers or flurries possible across Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and Wisconsin. Although no major winter storm is currently expected, localized snowfall could slow holiday travel and create slippery road conditions in affected areas.
