Log in Even Mike Lindell, a fierce Donald Trump loyalist, has voiced concerns about the 80-year-old president’s health, apparently suggesting that he’s exhausting himself with nightly rallies to boost Republicans’ chances of winning the midterm elections. In an effort to keep control of Congress, Trump has been stumping for GOP candidates like Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and Sen. Roger Marshall from Kansas as Democrats gain ground in red states. Lindell — the founder of bedding company MyPillow who unsuccessfully ran for Minnesota governor this year — seemed to imply that those nights standing in front of crowds and giving hour-long speeches are catching up to the president. During a video call with supporters, someone asked Lindell how he and the president were doing, noting that they both look exhausted, according to a recording of the call posted on X by independent journalist Aaron Rupar Monday. “He looked about as tired as I’ve seen him. He was very…I don’t want to say the word ‘down’...him and I, we don’t get down,” Lindell responded. “But he’s got to realize he’s on these rallies. I mean, just one after another after another.” Lindell has denied reporting about his comments on Trump’s tiredness, calling it “fake news.” “Here’s a REAL quote for everyone: President Trump works TIRELESSLY everyday to SAVE OUR COUNTRY. Nobody I know could keep up with his schedule and stay as optimistic as he is everyday,” Lindell wrote on X Tuesday. Trump has drawn increased scrutiny over his health in his second term, after appearing to doze off during public events and being photographed with bruised hands and swollen ankles. The president’s doctor, Sean Barbabella, has chalked up the bruising to frequent handshaking and aspirin use and said the leg swelling was from a common condition in those over 70 called chronic venous insufficiency. Trump has appeared to have trouble staying awake during Cabinet meetings and Oval Office appearances — and even more lively events like the UFC fight he hosted on the White House lawn for his birthday and an NBA Finals game at Madison Square Garden in June. Just 44 percent of Americans thought Trump was in good enough physical health to serve effectively as president in a Washington Post/ABC News/Ipsos poll from April. Fifty-five percent said he was not in good enough physical health to properly lead. When asked if he has the mental sharpness to serve effectively as president, 59 percent said he did not, while 40 percent said he did. But the White House and his doctor insist that Trump is in great shape. Barberella wrote in a summary of Trump’s medical exam in May that the president’s “cognitive and physical performance are excellent” and that he’s “fully fit to carry out all duties of the Commander-in-Chief and Head of State.” “President Trump is the sharpest, most accessible, and energetic president in American history,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle told The Independent in August.
