EXCLUSIVE Startups Ex-OpenAI Science Head Launches Startup With $215 Million Kevin Weil, the former OpenAI executive who led the ChatGPT maker’s AI-for-science efforts, is launching a new startup aimed at using artificial intelligence to speed up a key step of drug development. Warp Sciences is launching out of stealth with $215 million in funding, the company plans to announce Thursday. Lightspeed Venture Partners led the fundraising effort, with other firms including IVP, Premji Invest and Lux Capital also investing. The round values Warp at $865 million after the new money, according to the company.
