Vicar of Dibley cottage hits the market for just £375,000 - with a catch The hugely popular series ran from 1994 to 2000, and was followed by a number of specials A charming cottage that featured in The Vicar of Dibley is on sale - with bids starting at £375k. The quaint property, located in the village of Turville, Buckinghamshire., is next door to the house used as the exterior for Geraldine Granger's home in the hit BBC sitcom. Filming of Dawn French's character's front door mostly took place at the neighbouring property, with some wider shots using both cottages to represent the home. The Grade II-listed cottage is being auctioned off on November 12 by Town & Country North West, based in Liverpool, with a starting price of £375,000. The Vicar of Dibley, which ran from 1994 to 2000 followed by several specials, follows the titular character's life in the fictional village of Dibley. The description for Church Cottage, which has two bedrooms and one bathroom, reads: "Nestled next to the church, this Grade II Listed brick and flint cottage was used as the external film location for The Vicar of Dibley. "Offering cosy living, this charming 17th-century timber frame cottage has had some updating carried out but would benefit from further renovation. "A generous rear garden includes parking and a former lean-to car port, while the front approach through the church grounds adds historic charm. "Close to local pubs and scenic walks, this delightful cottage brims with potential to restore its storybook charm." Turville has an impressive screen pedigree, also featuring in the film Goodnight Mister Tom and the TV show Midsomer Murders. The property for sale is on the grounds of St Mary the Virgin Church - which was renamed St Barnabas Church in The Vicar of Dibley. Interior shots for the show were filmed at a different property. And, although listed with an estimate of £375,000, it will likely sell for substantially more. The cottage was previously listed with Savills in 2022 - with a guide price of £900,000.
