For more than three decades, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) has provided a platform for dialogue among countries with different political and economic priorities. Its 28 members are now looking at ways to strengthen cooperation on regional security, economic development and emerging challenges.
Under Azerbaijan's chairmanship, which began in 2024, discussions have focused on strengthening the organisation's institutional framework and making cooperation more practical. Migration, climate change and artificial intelligence were among the issues raised, alongside finance, education and business. As CICA enters a new phase, attention is turning to how member states can translate discussions into lasting cooperation.
