New Aldi 'less than 1p' item similar to £63 B&Q out Sunday adds 'charm' to any room Shoppers who like the look of B&Q's £63 version, but would rather stick to a budget, may be impressed by Aldi's alternative As part of its upcoming Special Buy refresh, Aldi is bringing out a new range of budget-friendly products this weekend. Shoppers will soon be able to get their hands on the supermarket's 'Festive Home' collection, from candles and cushions to throws and lamps. On Sunday, November 1, Aldi will introduce a new lighting offer for UK homeowners looking to spruce up their houses for the colder months. The store's new Casalux Textile Floor Lamp will be available for £16.99 in different colours, including black, silver, white and gold. In the product description, Aldi says: "Bring warmth and charm to your seasonal displays with this decorative floor lamp. Its soft illumination and timeless design make it an ideal addition to living rooms, hallways, or festive table settings. Three dimming modes. Height adjustable." With the weather turning colder, and the evenings getting darker earlier now the clocks have gone back, people are spending more time indoors. Keeping costs to a minimum while staying comfortable at home can be made easier with energy-efficient gadgets. How much does the lamp cost to run? Aldi's new Casalux Textile Floor Lamp is highly energy-efficient and costs less than 1p per hour to run, making it an incredibly inexpensive lighting option for your home. Because Casalux is Aldi's dedicated energy-saving lighting brand, these lamps are explicitly designed around low-wattage LED technology rather than traditional, power-hungry incandescent bulbs. The official retail specifications and user manuals confirm that the lamp either ships with an E27 LED bulb included or features built-in, dimmable LED light strips. The exact cost to keep the lamp on depends entirely on the LED wattage and your current electricity rates. Assuming a standard UK energy unit rate of 24.5p per kWh, a typical setup using an 8W LED bulb will cost roughly 0.2p per hour to operate. This means that leaving the lamp on for five hours every single evening will only add about 1p to your daily electricity bill, or roughly 30p across an entire month. Even if you max out the lamp's dual-socket capacity with two 6W LED bulbs for a total of 12W, it still costs a mere 0.3p per hour, meaning it would take roughly 100 hours of continuous use to accumulate just 29p in energy costs. Does the £ The Aldi Casalux Lamp shares similar appearance features with B&Q's Eglo Troy 3 Lamp. They both use a minimalist, modern column design that functions as a glowing pillar of light. Despite their matching aesthetic, they differ in price, materials, and overall dimensions. The most noticeable physical difference is their construction and size. The B&Q EGLO Troy 3 lamp features a premium, heavy white satin glass cylindrical shade paired with a satin nickel steel base. It is also a very tall, exceptionally slim fixture, standing at 153cm high with a narrow diameter of just 10.5cm. By contrast, the budget-friendly Aldi Casalux lamp uses a lightweight fabric shade and is generally shorter and much wider, giving it a chunkier presence in the room. Their out-of-the-box setups and pricing also represent two completely different tiers. The B&Q lamp costs £62.99, uses a single E27 bulb socket, and does not include a lightbulb. The Aldi lamp is a fraction of the price at £16.99 and comes fully ready to use with energy-efficient LED lighting included.
