Man, 38, 'murdered by gang with weapons' as police swarm Leeds streets A huge cordon is in place in the New Wortley area of Leeds after a man was the victim of a 'targeted' attack thought to be carried out by four people A man has died after he was "attacked with weapons" in Leeds with police launching a murder investigation. A huge cordon remains in place in the New Wortley area of Leeds after the attack was reported to police on Saturday just before 10.30pm. West Yorkshire Police said the report concerned a man being attacked with weapons outside a property on Hedley Chase. Despite treatment by paramedics, the 38-year-old victim was pronounced dead a short time later. Yorkshire Live reports that a large police presence remains in the area, including at an open space between Holforth Gardens and Oak Road. A footpath there has been closed off with several police officers guarding the scene. It is thought four people were involved in the "targeted" attack but no one has yet been identified by the police. Detective Chief Inspector Dan Bates said: "A man has tragically lost his life, and we are supporting his family at this tragic time. From initial reports, we understand that four people who were armed with weapons, carried out a sustained attack on the victim. "We are working extremely hard to identify those individuals. We have significant resources working to get answers for his family and ensure that those responsible face justice for their actions. "This was a targeted and isolated attack; we are appealing for any information to who may have been involved to come forward and provide details to us."
