Emergency services rushed to the incident at Holmes Chapel station at around 7.30pm on Tuesday where the man was pronounced dead at the scene. British Transport Police confirmed it was called out to reports of a passenger suffering a medical emergency on the train running towards Manchester. The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner. A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "We were called to Holmes Chapel station at around 7.30pm on Tuesday, October 27 following reports of a passenger suffering a medical emergency on a train. "Officers attended along with paramedics but despite their efforts sadly the person was pronounced dead at the scene. Normal service was later restored, reported the Manchester Evening News. Meanwhile, a Ryanair flight from Spain declared an emergency shortly before landing in Manchester after a passenger fell ill on Sunday. The flight was travelling from Seville to Manchester when the emergency code was transmitted. EI-DWX, a Boeing 737-800 operating as Flight RYR56QH, issued the 7700 squawk code roughly 20 minutes before landing at Manchester Airport. A 7700 squawk signifies a general emergency, with Ryanair later confirming a passenger had fallen ill onboard. After landing safely at Manchester Airport, the aircraft was met by medical crews who assisted the passenger. The plane, which had been due to leave the Spanish airport at 8.20pm, took off at 9.33pm local time. It landed in Manchester at 11.30pm according to Flightradar24. A spokesperson for Ryanair said: "A passenger became unwell during the flight so crew called ahead for medical assistance to meet the aircraft upon landing at Manchester."
