Weather conditions over the weekend could turn hazardous, BBC Weather has warned.
This follows severe disruption caused by Storm Boelo last weekend, when "damaging gusts" reached up to 84mph and heavy rain led to significant flooding, along with thousands left with no power.
BBC Weather's latest forecast states Friday "will see a chillier start" with intense fog across Wales and England. Visibility could be below 100 metres in some places, although "fine" conditions with "spells of sunshine" are expected after the fog lifts - and afternoon temperatures could reach 16C.
However, BBC forecasters say the dense fog will likely return on Saturday until lunchtime, leading to difficult travel conditions in east Wales, central England and southern England.
The BBC Weather forecast reads: "During the night into Saturday, light winds will allow the mist and fog to reform and develop, particularly in east Wales, central and southern England. This could be dense in places and lead to some hazardous driving conditions for Saturday morning travel. The fog may even linger in some parts until lunchtime."
The forecast adds that the risk of fog in Scotland and Northern Ireland is lower but more breeze and cloud is likely instead. Regarding the fog, BBC Weather adds: "It is more likely to sit on the hills and coastal headlands."
And for Sunday, the forecast states: "By Sunday the weather front will have drifted south allowing a much chillier start across Scotland and Northern Ireland with more cloud as well as patchy fog for England and Wales."
Met Office weather forecast for this weekend
Saturday and Sunday will remain largely dry for England and Wales, while northern and northwestern Scotland will be covered by rain on Saturday morning, according to the Met Office. The band of rain will move easterly and cover various areas across Scotland and Northern Ireland throughout Saturday.
Some showers will take place across the UK on Sunday but these appear to clear quickly. Temperatures will remain mild as well, peaking at 15C in London on Saturday, 13C in Cardiff, 13C in Edinburgh and 14C in Belfast.
The Met Office forecast for Saturday to Monday reads: "A little rain in the far northwest on Saturday, this sinking south through the weekend. Otherwise generally settled with some sunshine, but fog in places, this locally stubborn to clear."
