The X-Men and Star Trek star had been privately battling a "brief and poignant journey with Alzheimer's disease and Lewy body dementia". The actor was surrounded by the "warm embrace of his family, as well as "live music" and prayers. Since the devastating news was announced, tributes have poured in for the Mirfield-born actor. His final on-screen appearance will see Patrick in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday movie, which is slated for release on December 16.
