Log in A serial voyeur who was caught with hundreds of photos and videos of women filmed in secret through the windows of their north London homes has been jailed for four years. Anthony Durkan, 35, carried out a “calculated and deeply intrusive campaign” over the course of more than six years, targeting women in the safety of their own homes, police said. The Metropolitan Police have now released footage showing the moment Durkan was caught in the act outside a woman’s home before being arrested by officers. Video shows him dressed in black walking away from the property before he is handcuffed and taken into police custody. He was sentenced to four years in prison for 26 charges of voyeurism at Snaresbrook Crown Court on Wednesday. Detectives were first alerted of his offending in January 2026 after a woman told officers her neighbour had informed her that a man had been repeatedly visiting her home in Islington and filming through her windows during the early hours of the morning. Weeks later, in March 2026, officers were called to another address in Islington after a woman reported that she had also spotted a man recording her through her window. She confronted Durkan, who ran away, but was captured on a security camera. Police trawled CCTV footage of both incidents and found the suspect always appeared in dark clothing and targeted women during the early hours of the morning. Durkan, of Corporation Street in Islington, was then arrested during a proactive police patrol in March of this year. Officers seized his phone and found hidden gallery containing hundreds of images and videos of women completely unaware they were being filmed. Detectives uncovered evidence linking some of the images as back as far as January 2020, and said they are still working to establish the victims in many of the incidents. Detective Chief Inspector Gemma Alger, whose team led the investigation, said: “Durkan carried out a calculated and deeply intrusive campaign of offending, targeting women in what should have been the safety and privacy of their own homes. Many victims had no idea they were being watched and filmed. “This investigation was driven by the determination of officers to act on reports from local women and identify the perpetrator. Through proactive patrols, officers were able to spot Durkan carrying out the same offending behaviour and arrest him before more women could be targeted. “I would like to thank the victims for the courage they showed in coming forward and supporting this investigation. Their actions, alongside the proactive work of officers who identified and stopped Durkan's offending, have undoubtedly prevented further harm.” The force added their investigation remains ongoing, and that they are particularly keen to hear from women in Islington and north London between January 2020 and March 2026 who may have noticed unusual activity around their home, especially late at night or in the early hours of the morning.
