Ryanair warns of UK flight delays after Met Office fog alert for 74 areas
Ryanair has issued a travel update for passengers as heavy fog disrupts UK flights, following a Met Office yellow warning covering 74 areas on Sunday.
Ryanair has warned passengers of flight delays across the UK due to heavy fog after the Met Office issued a weather warning covering 74 areas.
The airliner has said some flights travelling to and from the UK are delayed today (November 1) due to the adverse weather conditions.
A post on the Ryanair website read: "Due to heavy fog, some flights to and from the UK are delayed today (Sun 1 Nov).
"Affected passengers will be contacted directly through the app. Passengers travelling through the UK should monitor the Ryanair app for the latest flight information."
It comes as the Met Office issued a new weather warning spanning 74 areas in the UK from midnight through to 10am today.
The Yellow alert for fog was announced as 11.19pm on Saturday (October 31) for parts of the East Midlands, East of England, London and South East England, North West England, South West England, Wales, West Midlands, and Yorkshire and Humber.
The forecaster suggests the affected regions can expect low visibility due to dense fog and warned of possible travel disruption to bus and train services as well as cancelled or delayed flights.
It said: "Fog has developed widely and will persist across many areas into Sunday morning before slowly lifting and clearing. Visibility will vary from place to place with some dense fog patches bringing visibility of less than 100 metres making for difficult travel conditions."
"Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, leaving extra journey time, or amending plans if necessary," it said.
"Make sure you know how to switch on your fog lights, and check they are working before setting off on your journey. Bus and train services, as well as flights and ferry travel may also be affected; check for updates from your travel company and follow their advice."
