Blood pressure tablet warning over packaging mix-up: what you need to know
- Patients taking lercanidipine are being asked to check their tablets after a batch of 10mg packs was found to contain a blister strip of 20mg tablets due to a 'mix-up'.
- The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) says the recall affects Accord packs with batch number M2510877, which expire in November 2028.
- If the blister strips are labelled 10mg, patients can continue taking the tablets. If a strip is labelled 20mg, they should not take those tablets and should contact their pharmacy.
- Anyone who may have taken the incorrect dose and experiences side-effects such as dizziness, headaches, flushing or palpitations should seek immediate medical advice, the regulator says.
- The MHRA told healthcare professionals: "Stop supplying the above batch immediately. Quarantine all remaining stock and return it to your supplier using your supplier's approved process."
