An unruly passenger accompanied by a dog aboard American Airlines flight AA1586 from Miami to New York reportedly triggered a security alert at JFK Airport.
An American Airlines flight was met by security at John F. Kennedy International Airport after crew reported an unruly passenger accompanied by a dog on board.
The Airbus A321 was travelling from Miami to New York when crew members reportedly contacted air traffic control to request law enforcement and security personnel ahead of its arrival on October 26.
According to AirLive, flight AA1586 landed safely at New York's JFK Airport at around 9.15pm local time before taxiing to Terminal 8, Gate 41, where security were waiting.
The circumstances surrounding the passenger's behaviour remain unclear, and it has not been confirmed whether any action was taken against the traveller.
The Mirror has contacted American Airlines for comment.
The incident came on the same evening that a dog was reported roaming freely around the cabin of an Allegiant Air flight.
Flight G4952 had departed John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Ohio at approximately 7.30pm local time and was heading to Punta Gorda Airport in Florida when the animal became loose.
The crew alerted air traffic control and cabin staff shortly after the Airbus A320 took off, with flight attendants and passengers managing to bring the situation under control.
Despite the unexpected disruption, the aircraft continued its journey without needing to divert and landed safely at Punta Gorda at around 9.45pm local time.
Both airlines require pets and service animals to be appropriately restrained or kept in approved carriers during flights.
