A heartfelt social media post on the importance of family by the tech boss who died along with his wife and young children in a Florida plane crash has gone viral.
Adam Robinson, 45, was killed on Sunday when a Learjet 60 plane crashed in Cresthaven - an area around 9 miles from President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort.
Also aboard the plane were Robinson’s wife, Helen Sharp; their children, four-year-old Emma and two-year-old Charlie; the youngsters’ nanny, Anita Maria Cetina; and another couple named Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr.
Robinson’s post was originally uploaded to X in April. In the post, Robinson - the founder of tech start-up Retention - discussed his outlook on corporate life.
“In my 20’s (sic), I used to work on Wall Street,” he wrote. “People my age now (45) said they were working 70, 80, 90 hours a week for their families… but all their families actually wanted was their presence.”
“They didn’t understand why their families resented how much they worked when they lived in a nice house, and their kids went to private schools,” he continued. “I decided early in my startup journey that wasn’t going to be me.”
Robinson went on to share that he would shut off his laptop and stop talking about work whenever he finished for the day and sometimes even left between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.
“My family life gives me energy for my work,” he wrote. “My work gives me energy for my family life.”
The crash that killed Robinson and his family was recorded by witnesses when it occurred over the weekend.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis described the crash to reporters from the scene, adding that no immediate reports of anyone on the ground being injured or killed in the crash had emerged.
“It was a cataclysmic plane crash,” DeSantis said. “It looked like a missile going down and left a big crater on the side of the road.”
According LiveATC.com records reviewed by CNN, the pilot reported that ice had begun to accumulate on the aircraft and noted that there was an outside temperature of -47 degrees Celsius. The plane also experienced turbulence that bounced it by around 700 feet.
The aircraft had departed from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas and was headed for the Bahamas.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says that the Federal Aviation Administration is assisting the National Transportation Safety Board in its investigation into the crash.
Audio obtained by CNN and Sky News included the co-pilot’s distress call as the plane began to rapidly descend.
“We’re descending 8,000 - mayday, mayday,” she radioed. “We’re descending 10,000 feet per minute.”
“We are in an overspeed condition descending 20,000 feet per minute,” the pilot continued. “We’re going to crash into the ground.”
Around 35 seconds after the initial mayday call, the pilot said: “We’re out of time.”
Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras has been named as the co-pilot and Jeff Gregory has been named as the pilot.
