UK weather: Temperatures to reach 16C as Brits to enjoy rare November warm spell Weather maps from WXCharts have turned yellow for November 16, indicating a notable rise in temperatures across parts of the UK, with several areas forecast to experience a sudden change in conditions Brits are poised to experience a period of considerably milder weather later this month — with temperatures to exceed the typical November average. Weather maps show the mercury is expected to peak at 16C this month, nearly 50% warmer than the mean for the time of year for most regions. The yellow and red hue on the map by the meteorologists at Metdesk's WXCharts show the signalled marked increase in temperatures across large swathes of the country. But Greater London, the Home Counties and parts of the Midlands will be among the hottest areas on and around November 16. It is likely the mercury will reach 16C in Oxfordshire and Bedfordshire, for example, counties which typically see temperatures of 10C-12C this month. The forecast is a contrast to the freezing conditions most of us face now until the middle of November. The mercury plunged to -2.6C near Tulloch Bridge, Scottish Highlands, and -2C in Shap, Cumbria, on Monday, the Met Office said. Just one hour of sunshine was recorded on the same day too in some parts of Scotland. But mercury levels will start to climb later this month, with the majority of England reaching double figures amid the warmer spell. Areas across the Midlands will see temperatures fluctuating between 11C and 13C, but regions in Scotland will continue to endure colder conditions, reports the Express. The Met Office's weather forecast covering November 16 to 30 reads: "During the second half of November, there is an increasing chance of changeable or more unsettled conditions developing, with spells of rain and the potential for strong winds at times. "The extent and location of the wettest and windiest weather is very uncertain at this range, with northern and western areas generally most favoured, but there is a chance the wettest conditions could become more focussed across southern parts for a time." "Towards the end of November, whilst confidence is very low in the overall weather patterns, there may be a tendency for the tracks of Atlantic lows to shift farther south. "Temperatures are likely to be near or above average for much of the period, although colder interludes remain possible, perhaps more especially later in the period."
