Apple MacBook Pro With Touch Screen, OLED Review: Display Is An Added Bonus
Key Points
Apple’s OLED MacBook Pro Is Worth It Even If You Never Touch the Screen The machine is one of the priciest on the market but its vivid display and lighter frame excel. While testing Apple Inc.’s new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, the company’s first-ever Mac with a touch screen, I’ve reached up to tap or swipe the panel maybe 15% of the time, and the addition of multi-finger gestures has done little to supplant the trackpad as my primary method for using the laptop.

But the moments when I do take advantage of directly manipulating software with my fingers are beneficial enough that it’s suddenly disappointing to switch back to regular Macs. Apple chose to ease users into this new way of interacting with the MacBook Pro instead of radically overhauling macOS to be more finger-friendly. Touch is an option that’s there when you want it, but it’s never a nuisance.
