Dramatic moment Jaguar E-Pace smashes through front of Eric Lyons Butchers The shocking footage shows the Jaguar E-Pace narrowly miss a customer at Eric Lyons Butchers in Balsall Common, West Midlands, a crash which happened on Wednesday This is the terrifying moment a car smashed through the front of a butcher's shop, narrowly missing a customer in a dramatic crash caught on CCTV. Shocking footage shows the Jaguar E-Pace suddenly lurching forward and ploughing through the window of Eric Lyons Butchers in Balsall Common, West Midlands, as the driver appeared to be attempting to park outside. The impact sent packets of sausages, steaks and chops flying across the shop as glass shattered and debris scattered everywhere. Incredibly, a customer inside narrowly escaped being struck by the vehicle, while two members of staff scrambled onto the wooden chopping block behind the counter to get out of its way. Police and fire crews rushed to Station Road shortly after midday on Wednesday November 4 following the crash. A woman was assessed by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment and was discharged at the scene, West Midlands Ambulance Service said. The smash came just days after the family-run butcher, which dates back to the 1800s, had reopened following renovation work. Butcher Nick Lyons said: "There was a customer in the back right, and two members of staff were behind the butcher's counter and jumped up on the wooden block, so we are all fine." He said the car had caused extensive destruction, ploughing through around "90 per cent" of the shop. The business will now remain closed until January, although bosses have reassured customers that Christmas orders and deliveries will not be affected. West Midlands Police are investigating the cause of the collision. A force spokesperson said: "We were called to Station Road, Balsall Common, Solihull, after a car struck a property at just after 12pm on Wednesday. No one has reported any injuries to us. Anyone with information can call 101, quoting log 2012 of 4 November." It comes after an elderly couple in Shropshire also had a very lucky escape when they survived a car crashing into their front room - because they decided not to watch TV. The pair, from Chirk Bank, Shropshire, were busying themselves around their house and thankfully weren’t sitting on their sofa when the vehicle ploughed into the property. Phil Barnett, 80, was downstairs when he heard an "almighty bang" as the black Seat Leon smashed into his home. The car remained embedded upside down in the terrace house for days with the area taped off after police, firefighters and ambulance crews rushed to the scene. The terrifying incident happened on Canal View in the quiet village on Shropshire’s northwest border with Wales.
