A social media post made 3 years ago has recently taken on an unsettling meaning after resurfacing online. Adam Robinson, 45, a tech entrepreneur who was killed along with his wife, two young children and five others in a private plane crash in Florida, had once replied to an online discussion with the words, “I guess I'm dead” on X. A seemingly sarcastic remark made during a conversation about the tech startup industry has now resurfaced following his death in the fatal accident on Sunday, November 1, 2026, drawing attention from users who have revisited his old posts. Robinson's post dates back to July 19, 2023, when he was engaging in a conversation on Twitter, now known as X, about where software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies should be built. The discussion involved a suggestion that some of the best technology companies were being built in Tel Aviv. Robinson responded with the brief remark, “I guess I'm dead.” At the time, the tweet was understood as a sarcastic response to the conversation rather than anything more serious. However, following news of his death, the words began circulating again, with people pointing out the coincidence between the old remark and the circumstances in which he lost his life. The post attracted renewed attention after Robinson was identified among the nine people killed when a Learjet 60 crashed in Palm Beach County, Florida, on November 1. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, the flight was headed to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas when the crash killed everyone on board. The passengers included Robinson, his wife Helen Sharp, their children Emma and Charlie, family nanny Anita Maria Cetina, and family friends Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr. The children were four and two years old, respectively. Their deaths were confirmed in a joint statement released by the families, which described Adam and Helen as devoted parents and remembered the warmth and generosity with which they welcomed people into their lives. The loss of the family, along with their friends and the two crew members, has also drawn attention from the technology community, where Robinson was known for his work as an entrepreneur. Robinson was the founder and CEO of Retention.com, RB2B as well as Moltsets, companies working in the marketing technology and website visitor identification space. Their products helped businesses identify people visiting their websites, allowing companies to better understand their audiences and connect with potential customers. He also founded MoltSets, an API-only business-to-business contact data platform. According to Inc., Robinson had built Retention.com into a company that generated $20 million in annual recurring revenue within 44 months, a milestone he had shared on LinkedIn. According to recordings of communications between the cockpit and air traffic control, as reported by Reuters, the crew had reported encountering light clear icing and moderate turbulence shortly before declaring an emergency. The pilots initially described the icing as manageable. The aircraft subsequently began a rapid descent, with the crew reporting an overspeed condition before issuing a mayday call. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with the cause yet to be established.
