Police have issued a new statement to find a missing pensioner who last seen walking his dog four days ago. Anthony, 69, was last seen in Radcliffe, a suburb of Bury in Greater Manchester at around 4pm on Sunday (November 1).
He was walking his dog near the Royal Oak pub in Water Street, Greater Manchester Police said. The pooch was found several hours later near the junction of Higher Ainsworth Road and Bury and Bolton Road, which is around a mile away from the pub.
However, Anthony remains missing even after multiple efforts, including an underwater search team, were launched to try and find him. He was last seen in a blue puffer coat and jeans, officers said in a new appeal which included a clue that could find the pensioner, reports the Manchester Evening News.
In the renewed appeal, cops shared an image of the dog lead they believe Anthony was using when he went missing, which has not yet been found. Detective Inspector Steven Horton said: "We are becoming increasingly concerned for Anthony's welfare and officers are working alongside our partners, including Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, as we continue our search.
"We believe Anthony could have walked onto a canal path behind the Royal Oak pub on Sunday and we're urging anyone who knows the surrounding area, or regularly uses the route, to remain vigilant and get in touch with us with any information.
"We are also releasing an image of the lead we believe Anthony was using to walk his dog when he went missing. This lead has not been found and anyone who comes across it, or thinks they have seen it, is being encouraged to call us on 101 or report online.
"While underwater search teams are involved in this operation, the hypothesis that Anthony could have entered water is just one line of enquiry that we are currently exploring.
"Our priority is bringing Anthony home to his family who we are supporting during this particularly distressing time."
Anyone who thinks they know where Anthony could be is being encouraged to contact police on 101 or online, quoting log number 4055 of 1 November 2026 when you get in touch.
