Jags in elite company with latest blowout win, feel they can be 'way better'

Key Points

BALTIMORE -- Nobody is beating teams the way the Jacksonville Jaguars are in 2026, and if the historic trend continues, their season could end at SoFi Stadium in February. The Jaguars' 33-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium on Thursday night was the team's fourth win by 23 or more points this season. The Jaguars are the fifth team since 1999 with four victories by 23 or more points in the first eight games of the season, and three of the previous four teams reached the Super Bowl, according to ESPN Research. And the Jaguars believe they're not even close to reaching their potential. "I think we're way better than what we've put out there," running back Chris Rodriguez said. "There's a lot of things we got to clean up, and we get a few days off, and next week, we'll look at those and keep moving forward. "But man, this team is really good." It's hard not to be impressed with what the Jaguars (6-2) have done through nine weeks. They lead the NFL in point differential (plus-131), and the next-closest team is San Francisco (plus-58). The Jaguars have scored 30-plus points five times, the first time in franchise history they've done that in at least five of their first eight games of a season. They've scored at least 30 points in their past three games, a streak that is tied for the second longest in franchise history, surpassed by only four consecutive victories in 2017. Their past three games were played in the rain, including one in London's Wembley Stadium. Not only are the Jaguars beating teams handily, but they're also doing it while being short-handed. They've lost left tackle Anton Harrison (knee), nose tackle DaVon Hamilton (quad) and safety Eric Murray (elbow) to season-ending injuries in Weeks 5-8. Sometimes, it hasn't been pretty. They beat Philadelphia 19-17 after Ameer Abdullah's 53-yard kickoff return left them with one second on the clock, which gave Cam Little a chance to kick the winning 60-yard field goal. And they beat the Ravens despite rushing for a season-low 77 yards. Plus, the Jaguars have played only three games in Jacksonville -- two home games were played in London -- and they went 34 days between games at EverBank Stadium. Linebacker Foye Oluokun said he is pleased with what the Jaguars have accomplished so far, but he is more concerned about the next two-plus months. "Yeah, you win and it feels great," Oluokun said. "We can't let wins mask stuff. We've always got stuff to improve. I've been here a while, went through winning, winning, winning, and one season, we let a lot slide because we were winning. So we got to keep learning in wins and stuff because it's all about who's playing the best in December and then we make that run [in] January and February."
