This Morning star explained how item often on sale in Aldi and Lidl 'super cheap to run'
An ITV expert has suggested an 8p per hour item as being vital for anyone who wants to dry clothes indoors. The weather has taken a turn for being colder - and people will be thinking any loads of washing are unlikely to dry outside.
People will stick up their clothes horse in the spare bedroom and attempt to get them dry there - but Grace Forrell, a consumer expert who regularly appears on ITV’s This Morning, said there is a ‘super cheap to run’ option which will make a real difference.
She said: “Three ways you can help your laundry dry quicker. Number one, if the fabric is suitable, try an extra spin cycle before you take your clothes out of the washing machine. Most machines have a spin only program. Number two, invest in a dehumidifier and pop it next to your air.
“It will absorb the moisture coming out of your clothes and speed up the drying time significantly. Plus, they’re super cheap to run. And number three, position a fan close by to circulate the dry air from the dehumidifier. A dehumidifier plus a fan is a winning combination. Follow my page for more tips.”
Standard medium compressor units -approx. 200W–300W - cost about 5p to 8p per hour. An 8-hour overnight run costs roughly 40p to 65p. They are available for about £79,99 - £89.99.
Lidl Tronic Dehumidifier is £79.99 and The Ambiano Dehumidifier is a popular budget appliance featured as an Aldi Specialbuy priced at £44.99. Both have been on offer this autumn so those interested should keep an eye open in stores.
Grace also warned of errors at this time of year which actively don’t help your items. She said: “Three mistakes people make when it comes to drying clothes. Number one, assuming you can’t line dry clothes in the winter. Providing the weather is clear, you can still put clothes outside to dry in the late mornings and early afternoons. Number two, hanging clothes to dry in a random order. It’s best to put heavy items like jeans and jumpers on the outside bars of your drying rack or wherever there’s the most air flow.
“Then quick drying bits like polyester and cloths can go in the centre. And number three, drying wet clothes on the radiator. This can stop your radiators from heating your home properly and lead to damp. If you’re short on space or cash, a cheap air that you hang over a door is a better option.”
