Laura Loomer, a far-right activist and ally of President Donald Trump, announced she is stepping back from her podcast after a frenzied posting spree in the wake of Republicans’ crushing midterm election losses.
Two days after Democrats reclaimed the House and Senate, Loomer told her 1.9 million followers on X that she had been overworked, “chronically” online and “running on empty for too long.”
“Family, my personal life, my upcoming wedding, a healthy work life balance and just the act of having a life outside of my show and my work have all been on hold,” the 33-year-old Florida resident posted Thursday. “So I’m taking a hiatus from my show LoomerUnleashed, which I livestream twice a week.”
“I’ll be back when the time is right,” she added.
Loomer, an Iran war advocate who has described herself as a “proud Islamophobe” and “pro-white nationalist,” has maintained direct access to Trump in his second term, meeting with him in the Oval Office and at Mar-a-Lago and traveling with him aboard Air Force One.
Loomer’s announcement came after a rapid-fire series of social media posts. A Newsweek analysis found that she posted 119 times in 28 hours after the results were called — roughly once every 14 minutes. Her posts painted an apocalyptic picture of the election’s aftermath, declaring America a failed state and claiming Islam had taken over.
“The American Dream is dead. Our country is polluted by non-white foreigners who don’t speak English,” she wrote Wednesday, alongside an image of a woman wearing a headscarf. The same day, she also called for the imprisonment of Abdul El-Sayed, Michigan’s new senator-elect.
In other posts, Loomer defended Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, labeled Tucker Carlson a traitor and urged Trump to be “more vengeful in the next 2 years of his administration.”
Tuesday’s election results also left her questioning whether “god is in charge” and predicting that a “nuclear holocaust” would ravage the United States.
“I hope people take their survival prep seriously,” she wrote Wednesday. “They are going to really need it.”
A number of commenters questioned Loomer’s mental health, including former GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who also criticized her access to Trump and senior White House officials.
“Laura Loomer is mentally unwell and is probably living in a state of psychosis,” Greene wrote on X. “And high level admin in the White House talk to her all the time. So does the President, called her a great republican strategist.”
“Her insane advice led to LOSING and could end with Trump in jail,” Greene added.
