Wayne Rooney set to break I'm A Celebrity rule before ITV show even starts Wayne Rooney possesses unique inside knowledge of I'm A Celebrity camp Wayne Rooney is set to inadvertently break an I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! rule due to his marriage to wife Coleen. The Manchester United icon has been rumoured to be one of 12 new campmates for the 2026 edition of the ITV show, which premieres on Monday, November 16. The 41-year-old would follow in the footsteps of his wife, who finished runner-up in the jungle in 2024. Rooney will need to undergo a psychological evaluation before officially taking part in the competition, and he will also need to inform the show's bosses of any physical ailments that could prevent him from participating in certain trials. However, Rooney may find it difficult to adhere to one of the several key rules of I'm A Celeb. Campmates are not allowed to tell anyone, including friends who've been on the show before, that they are entering the Australian jungle until the broadcaster officially confirms the news. Cast members are also not allowed to ask previous contestants for tips, but how ITV can realistically enforce it remains to be seen. That obviously makes it a tricky situation for the England icon to manage, given Coleen's prior involvement and the fact that they live together. Rooney never visited the camp during Coleen's tenure, with the pair's youngest children, Kit and Cass, making the trip Down Under with Coleen's mother, Colette, when family were allowed to visit the cast members. Breaking of this specific rule emerged in 2022 when actor Danny Miller revealed that after winning the 2022 edition of the show, he sought jungle advice from his former Emmerdale co-star and ex-I'm A Celeb participant Adam Thomas. Miller said: "I confided in Adam about me taking part as he is one of my best friends in the world. I feel like I am a step ahead as I've asked him questions about what it will be like." One thing that Rooney won't be able to get around is the strict prohibition of mobile phones when setting foot in the jungle. Finding out the latest United scores during his time on the show can only come through winning a Dingo Dollar Challenge. Rooney will reportedly join a long list of former footballers to star on the show, including the likes of Ian Wright, Wayne Bridge, Dennis Wise, 2018 winner Harry Redknapp and 2022 queen of the jungle Jill Scott.
