Attorney General Todd Blanche defended former White House chief of staff Susie Wiles, who is facing allegations from a former Trump administration official that she prioritized moneyed interests while serving in the White House.
President Donald Trump announced on Friday that Wiles, a longtime aide of Trump’s, would be replaced as chief of staff by Stephen Miller, formerly Trump’s deputy chief of staff for policy.
Hours after the announcement, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” among the top podcasts in the U.S., uploaded an episode with Calley Means, former senior adviser to Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Means told Rogan that Wiles blocked an initiative of the Make America Healthy Again agenda out of concern that it would hurt political contributions from the sugar industry.
Blanche, asked about comments from Means, said that the allegations were not cause for scrutiny from the Justice Department.
“There was a podcaster. There was somebody who went on a podcast and said that Susie Wiles put some other priorities over the president. I could not disagree with that more,” Blanche told CNN Sunday. “I say that as the attorney general. I don’t know if others have a different view”
Blanche made similar comments on “Fox News Sunday,” saying that allegations of Wiles’s “financial maneuverings” did not concern him.
Wiles has not responded publicly to the allegations. Others in Trump’s orbit praised Wiles following her exit. Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner on Friday called her a “woman of tremendous integrity, exceptional judgment, and unwavering loyalty to her country and the people she serves.”
