The World Sevens Football tournament begins on Thursday, live on Sky Sports, with eight WSL and WSL2 teams taking part. From the teams to the fixture schedule and format, here's all you need to know... What is the World Sevens? World Sevens is a seven-a-side women's football tournament. It is billed as a faster, more entertaining type of football. Matches are played on a pitch half of the size of a regular one. Each game lasts 30 minutes, divided into two halves of 15 minutes each, with extra-time for a draw. There is a five-minute half-time break. There are also unlimited rolling substitutions and no offside rule. The upcoming tournament is the first to be played in England and the third World Sevens iteration overall. The previous two editions were played in Estoril, Portugal and won by Bayern Munich, and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA and won by San Diego Wave.
