Workmate of missing Queensland man Jack McLennan says he's 'given police absolutely everything' Tue 2 Jun 2026 at 4:48am The last known person to see missing Queensland man Jack McLennan alive has broken his public silence amid intense community speculation over his role in Mr McLennan's disappearance. Chris Duke, a workmate of Mr McLennan, said he was with him in the moments before he disappeared around 10pm from Ficks Crossing, three hours' north-west of Brisbane, on October 4, 2024. In a series of exclusive interviews with the ABC Unravel podcast What Became of Jack? Mr Duke confirmed both he and Mr McLennan consumed methamphetamine and alcohol while hanging out together for at least eight hours that day and evening. But he has rejected online accusations that he was involved in Mr McLennan's disappearance and said he fully co-operated with police. Loading..."All that stuff on Facebook … I don't even know where they come up with it," Mr Duke said. "I've worked with the detectives and the CIB [Criminal Investigation Branch] as much as I can." Queensland Police have never declared Mr Duke, or anyone else, a person of interest in their investigation. Mr Duke said at the time Mr McLennan disappeared he was cleaning his car, and when he looked up Mr McLennan had vanished. "At the end of the day, I don't even know where he went," Mr Duke said. "I don't know. He left me." The mysteriousness of Mr McLennan's disappearance has been compounded by findings that his belongings, including his shoes, hat, wallet and bank card, were found scattered in a nonsensical pattern over 5 kilometres of mostly countryside. His phone, shirt and shorts have never been found, nor have any human remains. Mr McLennan also moved out from the house he shared with his girlfriend that same day. Mr McLennan's family, supporters and an online sleuthing community have criticised Mr Duke for not providing more information to Mr McLennan's parents. "There's so many questions I've never had answered," Mr McLennan's mother, Kellie Moody, said. "I want to sit with Chris. I want him to look me in the eye. "It would've been nice if he had said: 'Look, I don't want any anger. I want to help you with your questions.'" Mr Duke said he was cooperative with the family until he felt discussions became repetitive, accusatory and threatening. He said he was targeted in the community and his family was harassed. "I've lost work. It's just been an absolute nightmare," he said. "I didn't get to see my kids for months at the start, all because of this. "The way it's been handled has not been good. "I've given the police absolutely everything whenever they've asked for it [including] my clothes, my cars, my computers, my phones, everything that they wanted." Mr Duke said he had planned to name his son Jack, born in 2025, but had opted against it because of the surrounding furore. At the time of Mr McLennan's disappearance, he and Mr Duke had known each other and worked for the same building company for less than three months. "He was a good worker, a good bloke," Mr Duke said. "I couldn't imagine that anyone wanted to hurt him. "It's just a mystery to me."
