Differential Sensitivity of HSV-1 and PRV to IFN-{lambda} Reveals a Neuron-Specific Antiviral Role for RSAD2

Alpha herpesviruses (-HV) initially infect mucosal epithelial cells and subsequently establish lifelong latency in the peripheral nervous system (PNS). Herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1), a human pathogen persisting in the majority of the adult population, shares neuroinvasive properties with Pseudorabies virus (PRV), a swine -HV, commonly used as a model -HV. Utilizing primary peripheral neuronal cultures, we previously showed that IFN-{lambda} pre-treatment significantly reduced PRV yield.

Talin-1 determines the direction of primary mouse neutrophils migrating in vivo

Talin-1 is essential for {beta}2 integrin activation in neutrophils, yet its dynamic behavior during neutrophil trafficking in vivo remains poorly understood. Here, we generated EGFP-talin1 knock-in mice, enabling real-time visualization of talin-1 dynamics under physiological conditions. EGFP-talin1 is robustly expressed and preserves without altering {beta}2 integrin expression and activation.

Kindlin-1 loss disrupts vascular and extracellular matrix organisation to sustain hypoxia in cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma

Kindlin-1, encoded by FERMT1, is an essential integrin co-activator that regulates cell extracellular matrix (ECM) adhesion, tissue architecture, and microenvironment signalling. Loss-of-function mutations in FERMT1 cause Kindler epidermolysis bullosa, which is strongly associated with aggressive cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC). Although Kindlin-1 deficiency promotes hypoxia and invasion, the impacts on ECM-vascular organisation and oxygen homeostasis are not known.

Stage-1 Controls the Entropy Regime, Not the Outcome

arXiv:2606.09059v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Two-stage post-training -- a Stage-1 warm-start (supervised fine-tuning, SFT, or on-policy distillation, OPD) followed by Stage-2 reinforcement learning (RL) -- is increasingly used for vision-language models (VLMs). We ask what Stage-1 actually controls in a small-data study using Qwen2.5-VL-7B with a same-modality 72B VLM teacher for OPD. First, the three warm-starts reach a narrow $53$--$54\%$ band on Geometry3K internal validation,...
