Millimeter-Wave UAV Channel Model with Height-Dependent Path Loss and Shadowing in Urban Scenarios

arXiv:2511.10763v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) serving as Aerial Base Stations (ABSs) are expected to extend 6G millimeter-Wave (mmWave) coverage and improve link reliability in urban areas. However, UAV-based Air-to-Ground (A2G) channels are highly dependent on height and urban geometry. This paper proposes an ABS height-dependent mmWave channel model and investigates whether urban geometry, beyond the standard built-up parameters, significantly affects...

Energy Efficiency Optimization for Rotatable Antenna-Enabled Uplink NOMA Systems

arXiv:2606.05600v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: This paper investigates a rotatable antenna (RA)-enabled uplink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system, where a base station equipped with multiple independently RAs serves both ground and aerial users. Specifically, we formulate an energy efficiency (EE) maximization problem by jointly optimizing receive beamforming, user power allocation, and RA rotation. To make the problem tractable, a new block coordinate descent-based algorithm is...

Robust Lightweight Crack Classification for Real-Time UAV Bridge Inspection

Announce Type: replace Abstract: With the widespread application of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) in bridge structural health monitoring, deep learning-based automatic crack detection has become a major research focus. However, practical UAV inspections still face four key challenges: weak crack features, degraded imaging conditions, severe class imbalance, and limited computational resources for practical UAV inspection workflows. To address these issues, this paper proposes a unified...

The future of agriculture

The future of agriculture Lisa Lock Scientific Editor Andrew Zinin Lead Editor It's a mild early spring morning at the historic Cottonwood Field Station in western South Dakota, and a herd of 150 Angus steers are scheduled to move to a new pasture rotation. Moving cattle can be tricky and often requires some extra help, electrical fencing and quite a bit of time. But today, there are no extra ranchers, no gates swinging open and no temporary fences in place.

Amplified Arctic iceberg traffic reshapes benthic biodiversity

Abstract The Arctic is undergoing rapid warming, resulting in retreating sea ice and glaciers1, yet how cryospheric changes propagate into the deep ocean remains poorly understood2. Here we identify a climate-driven mechanism linking accelerating glacier disintegration to an increase in deep-sea hard-bottom habitats far beyond calving fronts. Seafloor observations in Fram Strait show a localized increase in the density and patchiness of dropstones delivered by debris-laden icebergs.

From Agni 5 to Akash & hypersonics: Decoding India's homegrown arsenal & defence shield

The ongoing conflicts in Ukraine, on the borders of Israel and in the Persian Gulf have underscored the importance of indigenous defence technologies and a domestic industry to back innovation. India has been steadily working to become self-reliant in defence manufacturing. The country is now on a razor’s edge—designing, developing, and deploying homegrown defence technologies.
