Fewer, Better Frames: A Compute-Normalized Proof of Concept for Coherence-First World-Model Rendering with Model-Guided FSR4 Frame Generation

arXiv:2606.02586v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: World models are often evaluated by native frame cadence, but higher nominal frame rate can trade away long-horizon scene stability. This article reports an independent proof of concept implemented using Overworld's Waypoint-1.5 family and WorldEngine runtime on a Windows fallback stack with ONNX Runtime + DirectML and an FSR4 DX12 bridge. The tested coherence-first branch generates higher-context anchor frames at a 15 FPS presentation-timeline...

When LLM Reward Design Fails: Diagnostic-Driven Refinement for Sparse Structured RL

arXiv:2605.28918v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: For sparse, structured reinforcement-learning tasks with semantic reward-function interfaces, LLM-generated reward shaping is better framed as debugging than one-shot generation. We study PPO-trained agents using MiniGrid as core evaluation and MuJoCo as boundary stress test. Our audit finds two dominant one-shot failure modes -- reward flooding and semantic/API misunderstanding -- plus a rarer weak-shaping case.

5 Best Smart Speakers (2026): Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri

There are three big players when it comes to finding the best smart speaker: Amazon, Google, and Apple's voice assistant-powered devices. But each system has its own benefits and limitations, and finding the right smart speaker for you requires considering several factors. You likely already have a favorite ecosystem.

Brain-CLIPLM: Semantic Compression for EEG-to-Text Decoding

Announce Type: replace Abstract: Decoding natural language from non-invasive electroencephalography (EEG) remains constrained by low signal-to-noise ratio and limited information bandwidth. This raises a central question: can sentence-level language be reliably recovered from such signals? Under realistic information constraints, this direct-recovery assumption may be too strong.

Turbulence teaches equivariance to neural networks

Announce Type: replace Abstract: We show that the rotational nature of turbulence affects how neural networks learn mappings between quantities governed by the Navier-Stokes equations. We train super-resolution models at different wall-normal locations in a turbulent channel flow, where anisotropy varies naturally, and test their generalization to new coordinate frames, new anisotropy regimes, and a higher Reynolds number. Our findings inform both the design of equivariant machine learning...

'Molecular movie' technology reveals a better way to thwart environmental pollutant

'Molecular movie' technology reveals a better way to thwart environmental pollutant Sadie Harley Scientific Editor Robert Egan Associate Editor The latest production from the "molecular movie" imaging technology developed at Oregon State University is a new, inexpensive way of dealing with a common environmental pollutant. Based on short-pulse lasers, the imaging technology allows chemical and biological actions to be measured as they are occurring, one high-speed frame at a time. The...

Framing, Judging, Steering: An Assessable Competency Model for Teach-ing Students to Reason With Generative AI

arXiv:2606.05983v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Generative AI makes answers easy and understanding hard, and uncritical use invites cognitive offloading. Schools still measure unaided performance, yet the real task is to produce good work with AI: framing an ill-defined task, judging the output, and steering the model toward a better result. This ability is rarely assessed in its own right; where measured, it collapses into one "prompting" score that cannot diagnose why AI use succeeds or fails.

Some of our favorite art TVs are more than 40 percent off this weekend

Art TVs aren’t exactly known for being affordable, which is why Woot’s latest sale is notable. Now through June 26th, the retailer is discounting Samsung’s 2025 Frame TV and Hisense’s 2025 CanvasTV. The 65-inch CanvasTV is down to $779.99 ($520 off) — its best price of the year — while Samsung’s like-minded Frame TV is on sale in multiple sizes starting at $587.99 ($312 off).

Bayesian Rain Field Reconstruction using Commercial Microwave Links and Diffusion Model Priors

arXiv:2605.05520v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Commercial Microwave Links (CMLs) offer dense spatial coverage for rainfall sensing but produce path-integrated measurements that make accurate ground-level reconstruction challenging. Existing methods typically oversimplify CMLs as point sensors and neglect line integration relating rainfall to signal attenuation, resulting in degraded performance under heterogeneous precipitation. In this work, we view rain field reconstruction as a...
