OpenAI mulls slashing prices as it competes with Anthropic for users
OpenAI is mulling sharp price cuts to its artificial intelligence offerings, as it looks to woo consumers away from rival Anthropic, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday evening stateside, citing sources familiar with the matter. "The company is weighing significant cuts to what it charges for tokens, the unit of measurement artificial-intelligence firms use to bill for their products," the report said, adding that it was "in anticipation of similar cuts the company expects at...

Anthropic spins a Fable of a tamer, safer Mythos
Anthropic's Mythos model, supposedly too dangerous for public release in April, is now available to wreak havoc or tackle other tasks for a hefty price and with some new guardrails in place. Just make sure you don't mind having Anthropic keep some of your data for a while. The AI biz on Tuesday announced public availability of Claude Fable 5, a Mythos-class model, and private availability of Claude Mythos 5 for Glasswing partners.
Anthropic/OpenAI may be spending more than $1000 for every $100 you pay them
For reasons that will remain hidden, we resume writing about Generative AI/LLM after a hiatus of 15 months (that one from October 2025, and the one from June 2025, don’t really count as serious pieces). Today, the first of two articles about “coding with Large ‘Language’ Models”, as coding with LLMs is positioned as the ‘killer app‘ for LLMs. We interrupt this program for a short digression on Anthropic’s recently released blog post When AI builds itself.
AI, Ashby Engineering, and the future
AI, Ashby Engineering, and the Future 15 minute read Since August 2025, more than half of the new code hitting Ashby’s production systems has been AI-generated, yet customer issues remain broadly stable. More AI-written code. We have a blip in March / April every year; these cyclical patterns aren’t relevant to explain here.
I built a vulnerable app and spent $1,500 seeing if LLMs could hack it
I built a vulnerable app and spent $1,500 seeing if LLMs could hack it As a part of my work I do security research for various apps and websites. I wanted to see if LLMs could reproduce a common class of exploits I’ve found in multiple apps. I made a fake React Native app in Expo and a backend in Python.
ABC Classic 100: Greatest of All Time — by the numbers
ABC Classic 100: Greatest of All Time — by the numbers Sun 7 Jun 2026 at 5:59pm Since 2001, we've invited you to vote for the classical music you love, guided by a different theme each year. In 2026, as part of our 50th birthday celebrations, we asked a simple question: "What's the greatest classical piece of all time?" Beethoven's colossal final symphony, Symphony No. 9 in D minor, has taken the number one spot for the fifth time.
Streaming Communication in Multi-Agent Reasoning
arXiv:2606.05158v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Multi-agent reasoning systems adopt a "generate-then-transfer" paradigm that forces end-to-end latency to scale linearly with pipeline depth. We introduce StreamMA, a multi-agent reasoning system that streams each reasoning step to downstream agents as soon as it is generated, pipelining adjacent agents and thus reducing latency. Surprisingly, this pipelining also improves effectiveness: because multi-step reasoning quality is non-uniform and...
Ask HN: What are tools you have made for yourself since the advent of AI?
I've made a number of ceramic molds for slumping fused glass into bowls. As well as wooden templates for ceramic mugs. I've devised a few carrying tools to move glass frit paintings from my studio down to my barn where the kilns sit without spilling the glass.
