Measurement of reactor neutrino oscillation with the first JUNO data

Abstract Neutrino oscillations (see refs. 1,2 and references therein), a quantum effect manifesting at macroscopic scales, are governed by lepton flavour mixing angles and neutrino mass-squared differences3 that are fundamental parameters of particle physics, representing phenomena beyond the Standard Model. Precision measurements of these parameters are essential for testing the completeness of the three-flavour framework, determining the mass ordering of neutrinos and probing possible new...

Mutation-dependent responses to sleep and exercise in clonal haematopoiesis

Abstract Clonal haematopoiesis (CH) activates inflammation and increases the risk of atherosclerosis1,2. Whether lifestyle alters CH clone expansion or the phenotypic programming of CH mutant cells, thereby affecting atherosclerosis, is unknown. Here, in humans and mice and across mutations in Jak2, Tet2, Trp53 and Dnmt3a, we demonstrate mutation-dependent responses to sleep and exercise in CH and show that mutant cells are uniquely sensitive to lifestyle.

European markets open cautiously ahead of ECB rate decision

The European Central Bank is widely expected to raise interest rates for the first time since 2023 as policymakers respond to rising inflation fuelled by higher energy prices linked to the Iran war. Investors are bracing for an ECB rate hike on Thursday. Markets expect the European Central Bank to raise rates by 25 basis points, which could weigh on growth and corporate earnings.

A prognostic human brain network for diffuse midline glioma

Abstract Diffuse midline gliomas (DMGs) are near-universally lethal tumours of the childhood central nervous system1,2. In animal models, DMGs form brain-wide integrated networks through neuron-to-glioma synapses3,4,5,6 and glioma-to-glioma gap junctional coupling3. This extensive connectivity robustly promotes the growth and invasion of DMG3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and other glial malignancies10,11,12 through paracrine mechanisms and direct neuron-to-glioma synapses.

Effective permeabilities for flow through anisotropic microscopic geometries

arXiv:2512.04133v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: This work develops a computational and theoretical framework for determining effective permeabilities in anisotropic microscopic geometries containing dense, fibre-like obstacles, motivated by the need to model flow in coiled aneurysm domains accurately. Building on homogenisation theory and fully resolved simulations in Representative Elementary Volumes (REVs), we validate the permeability model introduced in [C. Boutin, Study of...

Gaussian Width of Convex Sets via Integral Decompositions, Projections, and the Distribution of Intrinsic Volumes

arXiv:2603.02714v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: We revisit the problem of bounding the expected supremum of a canonical Gaussian process indexed by a convex set $T \subset \mathbf{R}^d$. We develop two decompositions for the Gaussian width, based on the geometry of the index set. The first decomposition involves metric projections of Gaussians onto rescaled copies of $T$. The second involves fixed points arising from a quadratically penalized variant of the local width. Neither...

ESBMC: A Survey of Its Evolution, Integration, and Future Directions in Formal Software Verification

Announce Type: replace Abstract: The Efficient SMT-Based Context-Bounded Model Checker (ESBMC) has grown from a research prototype for verifying embedded ANSI-C software into one of the most versatile and industrially capable formal verification platforms available today. Since its first publication in 2009, ESBMC has undergone persistent evolution: expanding its verification techniques, widening its language support to nine front-ends, integrating industrial-strength SMT solvers, and - most...

Diverse binding poses of agonistic neurotoxins on human Nav1.6

Abstract Voltage-gated sodium (Nav) channels are key targets of various venomous toxins. Deciphering the binding poses and mechanisms of action of representative toxins will help to dissect the functional mechanism of the channels and facilitate therapeutic development targeting Nav channels1,2. Here we present cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) structures of distinct binding poses of three agonistic peptide toxins on the human Nav1.6–β1 channel complex.

Deep learning four decades of human migration

Abstract Human migration is a fundamental driver of global demographic change, shaping population structure, labour markets and social policy across countries1,2,3. Although long-term migration patterns are often linked to economic development4, they can shift rapidly in response to shocks such as conflict, environmental crises and political change5. Despite its importance, migration remains difficult to measure consistently: existing data are sparse, concentrated in high-income settings and...
