Transforming and Encoding FTS for SAT Solving: What Helps, What Hurts (Extended Version)

arXiv:2605.30563v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Factored tasks are a classical planning representation that extends SAS+ with limited forms of disjunctive preconditions, conditional effects, and angelic nondeterminism. This allows for a more compact representation of tasks than traditional formalisms such as STRIPS or SAS+, and supports a wide range of task transformations. However, existing planning approaches for factored tasks have been limited to heuristic search methods.

Show HN: HelixDB – A graph database built on object storage

Hey HN, it’s been just over a year since we launched HelixDB (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=43975423), a project a friend and I started in college. It’s an OLTP graph database built on object-storage, with native vector search and full-text search (FTS).Why graph, vector and FTS? Graph databases provide a natural cognitive model for data, vectors allow for a semantic understanding of the entities and relationships in the graph, and FTS provides more specific filtering.

Castor: CERN Advanced STORage Manager

The CERN Advanced STORage manager (CASTOR) is a hierarchical storage (i.e. has disk and tape) management system which was developed at CERN for archiving physics data (with very large data volumes, see the plot on the right). Files can be stored, listed, retrieved and remotely accessed using CASTOR command-line tools or user applications that were developed using the CASTOR API. CASTOR provides a set of access protocols such as XROOT (the main and recommended protocol) and GridFTP.

Ask HN: What are tools you have made for yourself since the advent of AI?

I've made a number of ceramic molds for slumping fused glass into bowls. As well as wooden templates for ceramic mugs. I've devised a few carrying tools to move glass frit paintings from my studio down to my barn where the kilns sit without spilling the glass.
