Photonic Analog Quantum Simulation of (1+1)-Dimensional $U(1)$ Lattice Gauge Theory with Dynamical Matter

Announce Type: cross Abstract: We propose a photonic scheme for analog quantum simulation of a $U(1)$ Lattice Gauge Theory (LGT) with dynamical matter based on the Jaynes-Cummings-Hubbard (JCH) model. Here, an array of interacting cavities in the strong-coupling regime of cavity Quantum Electrodynamics is mapped onto the alternating matter and gauge-field sites of the spin-1/2 Quantum Link Model. In contrast to other analog LGT quantum simulation methods, our approach implements the desired...

Generalized cluster algorithms for Potts lattice gauge theory

arXiv:2507.13503v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Monte Carlo algorithms, like the Swendsen-Wang and invaded-cluster, sample the Ising and Potts models asymptotically faster than single-spin Glauber dynamics do. Here, we generalize both algorithms to sample Potts lattice gauge theory by way of a $2$-dimensional cellular representation called the plaquette random-cluster model. The invaded-cluster algorithm targets Potts lattice gauge theory at criticality by implementing a stopping...

Complex-gauge control of anomalous Floquet corner responses in a non-Hermitian physical-synthetic photonic lattice

Announce Type: cross Abstract: We propose a non-Hermitian Floquet photonic lattice formed by a physical resonator coordinate and a synthetic frequency coordinate. A two-step modulation protocol realizes a chiral walk in this physical-synthetic plane, with a real synthetic flux controlling loop interference and imaginary gauge fields controlling non-reciprocal envelopes. We show that anomalous corner pairs at quasienergies zero and \(\pi/T\) exhibit three distinct layers of physics.

Show HN: macOS menu bar gauges for your Claude Code quota

Menu bar gauges for your Claude Code quota — one bar per account, like this: (drawn for dark menu bars — white outlines) - Each bar shows the 5-hour-window utilization for one account, colored green / orange (≥70%) / red (≥90%). - When the 5-hour window is fully used, the bar shows a countdown until reset ( 4:28 ) instead of the percentage. When the weekly limit is hit, the bar turns black with a countdown to the weekly reset ( 2D ) — that's the harder cap, whatever the 5-hour window says.

South Koreans vote in local elections seen as gauge of President Lee's first year

South Koreans vote in local elections seen as gauge of President Lee's first year Voters will choose mayors and governors in 16 cities and provinces in a contest widely seen as an assessment of President Lee Jae Myung's first year in office. SEOUL: South Koreans vote on Wednesday (Jun 3) in local elections expected to boost President Lee Jae Myung's ruling Democratic Party, in the first nationwide ballot since his snap presidential election victory last year. Voters will choose mayors and...

‘I can gauge John’s reaction: that’s good, stick that in’: Paul McCartney on how old bandmates – and Oasis – inspired his nostalgic new album

At 83, McCartney is looking back for his 18th solo LP, to formative flirtations, family singalongs, even his own birth – and the febrile times that mirror our own. It’s given him ‘every hope that we’ll get through’• Alexis Petridis reviews The Boys of Dungeon Lane: ‘At 83, his gift for melody still astounds’‘How far do you want to go back?” In his office overlooking Soho Square in London, Paul McCartney and I sit together on a small sofa, reminiscing. The room smells deep and resinous and...
