UK weather maps show new 3-day heatwave with 13 counties at 31C or more – list

UK weather maps show new 3-day heatwave with 13 counties at 31C or more – list Another heatwave could be just days away as weather forecasting models show temperatures in the UK rising as high as 32C across a scorching three-day spell Weather models suggest temperatures in the UK could soon rise above the official heatwave threshold for three days as the mercury surges to 32C. Met Office weather forecasters say there is an increased chance of heatwaves over the coming months, and it would...

Observation-driven correction of numerical weather prediction for marine winds

arXiv:2512.03606v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Accurate marine wind forecasts are essential for safe navigation, ship routing, and energy operations, yet they remain challenging because observations over the ocean are sparse, heterogeneous, and temporally variable. We present an observation-informed correction approach for global numerical weather prediction (NWP) of marine winds. Rather than forecasting winds directly, we learn local correction patterns by assimilating the latest...

Physics-Guided Dual Decoding and Spectral Supervision for Global 3D Hydrometeor Prediction

Announce Type: new Abstract: While global data-driven models excel at predicting continuous atmospheric variables, three-dimensional hydrometeor forecasting remains challenging due to the zero-inflated, long-tailed distributions of these variables. Standard deep learning optimization often yields overly smooth forecasts, attenuating extreme events and spatial textures. We propose PredHydro-Net, a physics-guided dual-decoding framework that mitigates this smoothing.

UK weather maps show new 30C heat surge days away with 16 counties at 28C – list

UK weather maps show new 30C heat surge days away with 16 counties at 28C – list Weather forecasting models show temperatures could soon rise back to 30C in some parts of the UK following last week's heatwave - but thunderstorms are also possible Temperatures have now dropped to around the average for this time of year following a scorching 35C heatwave last week - but it might not be too long before the mercury rises back to 30C in some parts of the UK. The Met Office says temperatures...
