Goal Sets, Not Goal States: Queryable Robot Goals through Goal-Set Hindsight Relabeling
arXiv:2606.09476v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Hindsight relabeling usually turns achieved future states into exact goals, which can overconstrain offline robot learning when task success depends only on a subset of the state. We propose Goal-Set Hindsight Relabeling (GS-HER), a predicate-level generalization of HER in which achieved states certify query-defined goal sets rather than singleton goal states. A binary query specifies which variables define success, making the goal predicate an...
Short-Term Synaptic Plasticity Stabilizes Goal-Conditioned Dynamics in a PFC-Inspired Reservoir Model for Multistep Goal-Directed Action Planning
arXiv:2606.03481v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: The prefrontal cortex (PFC) maintains goal information for action planning, but how recurrent circuits preserve it in an action-usable form over behavioral timescales remains unclear. Here we ask whether short-term synaptic plasticity (STP) can stabilize goal information as action-usable, goal-conditioned dynamics. We incorporated STP into a PFC-inspired reservoir computing model with basal-ganglia-inspired temporal-difference readout...
Distance Mapping and Variable-Specific Geometry of Goal-Relevant Frames in the Retrosplenial Cortex
Goal-directed navigation requires animals to continuously update their position relative to an unmarked goal. Here, we recorded retrosplenial cortex (RSC) activity in freely moving rats during goal-directed navigation and random foraging. We found that RSC neurons encoded the Euclidean distance to the goal, and that this distance representation was selectively biased toward the goal during navigation.
How a single goal could cost football fans up to £188 this summer
How a single goal could cost football fans up to £188 this summer New research shows football fans are more likely to splash the cash when their team scores — but it's not just drinks they're buying Nearly four in 10 football fans admit they spend more money when their team scores a goal. A poll of 2,000 supporters found 37% part with their money more easily when their team get a goal, with celebratory drinks the most popular purchase – totalling an average of £17.70 per goal. Fans are also...
A Behavioural and Representational Evaluation of Goal-Directedness in Language Model Agents
Announce Type: replace Abstract: Understanding an agent's goals helps explain and predict its behaviour, yet there is no established methodology for reliably attributing goals to agentic systems. We propose a framework for evaluating goal-directedness that integrates behavioural evaluation with interpretability-based analyses of models' internal representations. As a case study, we examine an LLM agent navigating a 2D grid world towards a goal state.
Physics-informed Goal-Conditioned Reinforcement Learning under Hybrid Contact Dynamics
arXiv:2605.30503v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Learning to reach arbitrary goals from sparse feedback requires agents to infer a rich notion of reachability across state--goal pairs. Goal-conditioned reinforcement learning (GCRL) tackles this challenge by learning policies that generalize across goals, but this generalization becomes increasingly difficult as the underlying dynamics become high-dimensional, hybrid, or contact-dependent. To address this issue, physics-informed GCRL (Pi-GCRL)...
What is Scotland's most iconic goal? The final - Gemmill v McTominay
What is Scotland's most iconic goal? The final - Gemmill v McTominay - Published The journey to crown Scotland's Most Iconic Goal has reached the final. And it's Scott McTominay's overhead kick against Denmark in November against Archie Gemmill's goal against the Netherlands at the 1978 World Cup.
LangMap: A Human-Verified Benchmark for Hierarchical Open-Vocabulary Goal Navigation
arXiv:2602.02220v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Language-conditioned goal navigation (LGN) requires agents to locate user-specified targets without step-by-step guidance. However, existing benchmarks largely focus on category-level goals or rely on instance descriptions generated by vision-language models (VLMs), which often contain ambiguities and semantic errors, limiting systematic and reliable evaluation. We introduce HieraNav, an open-vocabulary LGN task with goals specified at four...
Undav shines with two goals, one assist in Germany's 4-0 win over Finland
Undav shines with two goals, one assist in Germany's 4-0 win over Finland MAINZ, Germany, May 31 : Forward Deniz Undav scored twice and set up another goal as Germany eased past Finland 4-0 in a friendly international on Sunday, two days before the four-time champions depart for the World Cup. Undav, who will compete with Kai Havertz for a starting spot at the World Cup, headed in for a 34th-minute lead before setting up Florian Wirtz for their second goal three minutes after the restart.
Lukaku returns in style with 90th goal for Belgium
Lukaku returns in style with 90th goal for Belgium RIJEKA, Croatia, June 2 : Romelu Lukaku marked his return to the Belgium side with a record-extending 90th international goal as they beat Croatia 2-0 away in their World Cup warm-up friendly on Tuesday. Captain Youri Tielemans took advantage of a defensive slip to score the opening goal while Belgium's all-time top scorer Lukaku struck with the last effort of the match in his first game for the national side in 12 months. The 33-year-old...
