arXiv:2606.04122v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: We develop a theory of ridges in compact stellarators with quasiaxisymmetry (QA). The equilibrium with finite plasma currents and pressure is modeled by ideal magnetohydrostatics (MHS). Field lines are collimated near sharp ridges, much like X-points, making ridges attractive to divertor designs without the requirement of a rational rotational transform at the divertor.
