MMBU: A Massive Multi-modal Biomedical Understanding Benchmark to Probe the Perception Capabilities of Vision-Language Models

arXiv:2606.06696v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Vision and language models (VLMs) hold immense promise to transform biomedical imaging workflows, from detecting lesions in chest X-rays to profiling cellular features in microscopy. Realizing this potential, however, requires robust and fine-grained visual perception. Models need to correctly interpret subtle features in images, and they must do so across diverse biomedical modalities, scales, and contexts.

Analysis of Texas measles outbreak shows just how dangerous virus is

Title: Analysis of Texas measles outbreak shows just how dangerous virus is For years, anti-vaccine Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and his zealous followers have downplayed measles as "just a rash" and falsely claimed that "Measles outbreaks have been fabricated to create fear." In 2021, when Kennedy wrote those words, the US recorded just 49 measles cases. Yearly case counts have generally been low since 2000, when the US declared measles eliminated thanks to a decades-long vaccination campaign. But with the rise of Kennedy and his ilk in the past few decades, that public health triumph is being undone. Vaccination rates have slipped, and large, multistate outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases have inevitably come roaring back. Now it's becoming painfully clear once again how wrong Kennedy and his cohorts are about infectious diseases and vaccines. In a study published yesterday in the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, state and federal researchers provided a detailed postmortem of last year's massive multi-state measles outbreak that mushroomed out of West Texas. The data reveals a disease that's far from just a rash, with about 20 percent of people—mostly younger children—being hospitalized.Read full article Comments

3rd Place at CVPR 2026 CASTLE Challenge: Agentic Multi-View Long-Context Video Understanding via Hierarchical Knowledge Graph Retrieval

arXiv:2606.01933v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: This paper presents our winning methodology for the CASTLE 2026 Challenge at the CVPR 2026 EgoVis Workshop, where our team secured third place globally. The challenge tasks participants with answering highly complex visual, spatiotemporal, and verbal questions, including visual counting, action localization, multi-view tracking and speaker temporal reasoning, within massive, multimodal video streams. The underlying dataset consists of over 600...

Efficient Hyperparameter Optimization for LLM Reinforcement Learning

arXiv:2606.03073v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Reinforcement learning (RL) for large language models (LLMs) is highly sensitive to hyperparameter configurations, making hyperparameter optimization (HPO) essential yet computationally expensive. Existing multi-fidelity HPO methods remain inefficient for LLM RL due to the massive model scale and resource-intensive training cycles. In this paper, we propose Joint Fidelity Hyperparameter Optimization (JF-HPO), which simultaneously adapts both...

California professor argues need for 'objective measures' after state drops ACT/SAT requirement

A growing consortium of University of California professors is urging the state university system to bring back standardized testing, warning that the elimination of admissions tests has degraded academic readiness and forced instructors to teach "middle school math" to college undergraduates. More than 1,400 UC faculty members have signed an open letter calling on leadership to reinstate the SAT and ACT mathematics requirements for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) majors....

DynaGraph: Lightweight Multi-Model Interaction Framework via Dynamic Topological Reconfiguration

arXiv:2605.29511v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Tackling complex reasoning tasks typically relies on massive monolithic LLMs, which suffer from severe computational redundancy. While task decomposition through structured pipelines or multi-agent collaborations offers an alternative, these approaches inevitably fall into a critical dilemma: predefined static topologies are highly vulnerable to cascading errors, whereas unconstrained dynamic agents suffer from trajectory divergence and...

A 10 year old Xeon is all you need (for 26B-A4B MTP Drafters without GPU)

A 10 year old Xeon is all you need 17 minutes read The previous post covered getting Gemma 4’s MTP drafters quantized and paired with a verifier. This one is about running the result on a machine that has no business running it. I have a recycled server.

EVL-ECG: Efficient ECG Interpretation With Multi-Aspect Heterogeneous Knowledge Distillation

arXiv:2605.29977v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: High-fidelity ECG interpretation is increasingly reliant on massive foundation models, yet their deployment in clinical edge-care remains hindered by extreme computational demands. While knowledge distillation (KD) is a promising solution, traditional methods fail to capture the complex spatio-temporal dependencies of ECG signals when transferring knowledge across heterogeneous architectures. In this paper, we propose EVL-ECG, a framework...
