Sequential Minimal Optimization for $\varepsilon$-SVR with MAPE Loss and Sample-Dependent Box Constraints

arXiv:2605.01446v3 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Support vector regression with Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) loss is theoretically well-motivated for forecasting applications where accuracy is evaluated in relative terms, but the sample-dependent dual box constraints it induces have not been addressed in the published SMO literature. We derive a Sequential Minimal Optimization algorithm for this setting and prove a structural-invariance result: the MAPE modification affects...

Zero Touch Predictive Orchestration: Automating Time-Series Models for the Cloud-Edge Continuum

new Abstract: The Cloud-Edge Continuum (CEC) enables latency-critical applications by distributing resources to the far edge, but its extreme volatility makes proactive Zero Touch Management via time-series forecasting essential. However, orchestrators face a severe "cold start" problem: newly discovered nodes lack the historical data required to train localized predictive models, while generalized models fail to capture unique hardware and microservice behaviors. To solve this, we propose a...

Echo State Networks for Time Series Forecasting: Hyperparameter Sweep and Benchmarking

Announce Type: replace Abstract: This paper investigates the performance of Echo State Networks (ESNs) for univariate forecasting of monthly and quarterly time series from the M4 Forecasting Competition dataset. We evaluate whether a simple first-order autoregressive ESN can serve as a competitive alternative to widely used forecasting methods. The study uses a two-stage design: a Parameter dataset is used to analyze ESN model configurations over leakage rate, spectral radius, reservoir...

Kalimati Vegetable Price Index Forecasting with a Momentum Corrected Online Stacking Ensemble

arXiv:2605.30720v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Forecasting agricultural commodity prices in emerging economies is difficult due to high volatility, frequent supply disruptions, and strong cultural influences on demand. This study introduces the Kalimati Vegetable Price Index (KVPI), a new inverse-volatility weighted composite index that aggregates 135 daily wholesale commodities from Kathmandu over ten years (2013-2023). By creating a stable macro-level signal, the KVPI reduces the noise...

Accelerating Divisible Load Processing Through Machine Learning: A Practical Framework for Large-Scale Workloads

Announce Type: replace Abstract: In this paper, we introduce the first machine learning framework for predicting optimal processing times in Single-Level Tree Network (SLTN) architectures for the Divisible Load Theory (DLT) paradigm. Using a feedforward neural network(FNN) with 16 engineered features, we train a model on 100,000 synthetically generated configurations to predict optimal processing times without explicit formulation of DLT equations. The model achieves 97-99% accuracy...

SIRT7 regulates dosage compensation and safeguards the female X chromosome

Abstract Sirtuins are deacetylases implicated in stress responses and longevity in mammals1,2. Although their differential impact on disease for the two sexes has been noted3,4,5,6,7, the underlying reasons are unclear. Here, using Sirt7 as a model in mice, we examine the mechanisms leading to sex differences and find that Sirt7−/− female mice have decreased fitness throughout their lifespan.

The Language of Elution: Autoregressive Prediction of the Next Feature in Untargeted LC-HRMS Lipidomics

Announce Type: cross Abstract: Untargeted liquid chromatography-high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS) detects thousands of molecular features per sample, yet only 2-20% receive confident structural annotations. A root cause of this "dark metabolome" is that tandem MS/MS acquisition is reactive: instruments select precursors only after ions appear, blind to what elutes next. We reframe chromatographic elution as an autoregressive sequence prediction task.

A prognostic human brain network for diffuse midline glioma

Abstract Diffuse midline gliomas (DMGs) are near-universally lethal tumours of the childhood central nervous system1,2. In animal models, DMGs form brain-wide integrated networks through neuron-to-glioma synapses3,4,5,6 and glioma-to-glioma gap junctional coupling3. This extensive connectivity robustly promotes the growth and invasion of DMG3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and other glial malignancies10,11,12 through paracrine mechanisms and direct neuron-to-glioma synapses.

Amplified Arctic iceberg traffic reshapes benthic biodiversity

Abstract The Arctic is undergoing rapid warming, resulting in retreating sea ice and glaciers1, yet how cryospheric changes propagate into the deep ocean remains poorly understood2. Here we identify a climate-driven mechanism linking accelerating glacier disintegration to an increase in deep-sea hard-bottom habitats far beyond calving fronts. Seafloor observations in Fram Strait show a localized increase in the density and patchiness of dropstones delivered by debris-laden icebergs.

When AI Builds Itself: Our progress toward recursive self-improvement

For most of AI’s history, humans drove every step in its development cycle. But at Anthropic, we are delegating a growing share of AI development to AI systems themselves, which is speeding up our work. Taken far enough, and given enough compute, that trend points to an AI system capable of fully autonomously designing and developing its own successor.
