Trio of drastically different US lakes straddles the border between states — Earth from space
Trio of drastically different US lakes straddles the border between states — Earth from space A 2020 astronaut photo shows three uniquely colored lakes — Tahoe, Walker and Mono — straddling contrasting biomes on either side of the California-Nevada border. QUICK FACTS Where is it? Along the California-Nevada border
Impact of Cosmic Ray Distribution on the Growth and Saturation of Bell Instability
arXiv:2511.21154v2 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Cosmic rays (CRs) streaming in weakly magnetized plasmas can drive large-amplitude magnetic fluctuations via nonresonant streaming instability (NRSI), or Bell instability. Using one-dimensional kinetic simulations, we investigate how mono-energetic and power-law CR momentum distributions influence the growth and saturation of NRSI. The linear growth is governed solely by the CR current and is largely insensitive to the CR distribution.
MAVEN A Multi-Agent Framework for Multicultural Text-to-Video Generation
arXiv:2605.16716v4 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Text-to-video (T2V) generation has rapidly progressed in visual fidelity, yet its ability to faithfully represent multiple cultures within a single prompt remains underexplored. We introduce MAVEN, a multi-agent prompt refinement framework designed to improve cultural fidelity in both mono-cultural and cross-cultural T2V generation. MAVEN decomposes prompts into person, action, and location dimensions, handled by specialized agents...
Preserved CD4+ T cell helper function and coordinated antiviral immunity in people with HBV/HIV co-infection on long-term therapy
ABSTRACT Background & Aims: People with HBV/HIV co-infection on antiretroviral therapy achieve higher rates of HBV functional cure than those with HBV mono-infection, yet the immunological basis remains poorly characterised. HBV-specific CD4+ T cell responses are critical for viral control and functional cure but have been scarcely examined in HBV/HIV co-infection. Our previous studies in HBV/HIV co-infection demonstrated preserved stem-like CD8+ T cells and NK cell functional responses, but...

In Vitro Efficacy of Paclitaxel-loaded PLGA Nanoformulations for Lung Cancer Treatment Demonstrated by Label-free Multiphoton-Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscopy
Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer-related mortality, and despite its limited efficacy, and low specificity, chemotherapy is still commonly used as a first-line treatment. Herein, we prepare and characterize poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles (NPs) for the use as a non-targeted nanocarrier drug delivery system for the chemotherapeutic drug, paclitaxel (PTX). Drug loading capability, mono-dispersity, zeta potential, morphology, and drug release profile were...
‘Backrooms’ Takes You Deeper Inside the Internet’s Most Uncanny Horror Myth
The 20-year-old filmmaker Kane Parsons has risen to the top so fast that he’s had zero time to process how far he’s come. “It's been go, go, go,” Parsons tells WIRED. “Even the tiniest bit of a break,” he says, would give him some better perspective on everything that’s happened over the past few years.
How Liminalism Became the Defining Aesthetic of Our Time
How Liminalism Became the Defining Aesthetic of Our Time This crowd-curated digital movement is one of the most pertinent and explicit reactions to our particular slice of dystopian late capitalism. Had Century III Mall in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania not closed seven years ago, the shopping center — the third-largest in the world when it opened, with 200 tenants — would be approaching its 50th anniversary. Anchored by defunct local department store chains, including Joseph Horne Company,...
How's Linear so fast? A technical breakdown
How's Linear so fast? A technical breakdown A few milliseconds is all it takes to update an issue in Linear. A traditional CRUD app doing the same thing takes about 300ms.
Backrooms: The creepy internet phenomenon, explained
Backrooms: The creepy internet phenomenon, explained June 3, 2026In "Backrooms," Clark (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is a failed architect who runs a dreary discount furniture-store, drinking himself to sleep in his shop, depressed by his divorce. One day, he discovers a portal to a mysterious labyrinth of corridors with no apparent end. His therapist, Mary, is played by "Sentimental Value" star Renate Reinsve.
