Suppression order extended for name of high-profile Qld man in extortion case
Magistrate extends order to suppress name of high-profile Queensland man at centre of extortion case Mon 8 Jun 2026 at 12:29pm A magistrate has extended a non-publication order preventing the identification of a high-profile Queensland man at the centre of an alleged extortion threat. The Cairns Magistrates Court has heard an accused man, who cannot be named, threatened to expose an alleged affair his former partner had with the married high-profile Queenslander in 2017. The woman was...
Improving viral protein clustering using both diversified protein profiles and structural information
Viruses are abundant, ancestral and potentially fast-evolving biological entities. As a result, their encoded proteins are diverse and identifying homologous relationships between sequences is as important for phylogeny and functional annotation as it is challenging. Traditional methods group viral proteins by sequence similarity, build HMM profiles for each protein family, and cluster further via profile comparisons.
High-accuracy hierarchical rRNA operon profiling resolves genomovar-level taxonomy and microdiversity using Nanopore sequencing.
Genomovar-level and intragenomic diversity cannot be resolved by conventional amplicon sequencing due to the limitation of fragment lengths and read accuracy, while the application of metagenomic profiling to a large number of samples can be resource intensive. Here, we report UltraRes-rrn, an integrated wet-lab and computational workflow for high-accuracy rrn (i.e., 16S-ITS-23S rRNA) operon profiling using Nanopore sequencing. By integrating ultra-long DNA recovery, long-read amplicon...
PaperFlow: Profiling, Recommending, and Adapting Across Daily Paper Streams
Announce Type: new Abstract: Scientific paper recommendation is typically evaluated as static ranking over a fixed candidate set, yet real scientific reading unfolds as a daily, longitudinal process in which interests shift and feedback accumulates. We introduce PaperFlow, a framework that organizes it into three coupled stages: Profiling, which constructs and maintains a structured, inspectable scholarly profile from heterogeneous cold-start evidence; Recommending, which ranks each...
Instagram is finally letting everyone reorganize their profile grid
Nearly a year after it was announced, Instagram says it's delivering the ability to rearrange the posts in your profile grid. It had been available to some people in test groups, but as of June 8th, it's rolling out widely via the Android and iPhone mobile apps. Until now, the posts on your Instagram profile have been locked in chronological order beyond the ability to pin three posts at the top, but once the feature is live on your account, you can long-press and drag posts freely, no...
Analysis:High-profile Instagram AI chatbot breach spotlights security risks of automation
Analysis:High-profile Instagram AI chatbot breach spotlights security risks of automation June 3 : An Instagram hack that saw attackers talk Meta's AI support chatbot into handing over access to high-profile accounts has exposed a critical flaw at the heart of the company's push to automate sensitive user functions. The breach allowed hackers to seize accounts including the dormant Obama White House page, beauty retailer Sephora and a senior U.S. Space Force official. The chatbot was...
Self-supervised User Profile Generation for Personalization
arXiv:2606.05336v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: Personalizing large language models (LLMs) has become a central challenge as LLMs are deployed across recommendation, search, dialogue, and content generation -- settings where the same query should yield different answers given different users. A promising route is to summarize each user's interaction history into a natural-language memory or profile and prepend it to the prompt to facilitate personalization. Existing methods learn such...
Suppression order for name of a high-profile Queensland man stands for now
Identity of man at centre of alleged extramarital relationship extortion remains suppressed Mon 1 Jun 2026 at 6:22pm In short: Acting Magistrate Gelma Meoli has extended an interim order to withhold the name of a high-profile Queensland man from publication. It's alleged an extra-marital relationship is at the centre of an extortion attempt. The matter has been adjourned until next week to allow police prosecutions to file an application.
Fastest-rising women's cancer in Australia still has a low profile
Uterine cancer is increasing in Australia, but most women have never heard of it Sat 6 Jun 2026 at 4:53am In short: Uterine cancer is increasing in Australia, with the incidence doubling over the past 25 years. But the condition also has a poor public profile, with up to nine in 10 women having no knowledge of the disease. Up to 60 per cent of cases of uterine cancer in Australia are potentially preventable with greater public awareness, prompt attention to symptoms and better management of...
Spatial Transcriptomics-Guided Alignment Enhances Molecular Profiling in Pathology Foundation Model
Announce Type: new Abstract: Comprehensive molecular profiling is essential for modern precision oncology but remains hindered by prohibitive costs, specimen exhaustion, and protracted turnaround times. While pathology foundation models (PFMs) have demonstrated potential for inferring molecular phenotypes from routine hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) whole-slide images (WSIs), current architectures primarily rely on vision-centric self-supervised learning or vision-language alignment, lacking...
