Rank-Constrained Deep Matrix Completion for Group Recommendation

new Abstract: The growing popularity of group activities has increased the need for methods that provide recommendations to groups of users given their individual preferences. Many existing group recommender systems rely on aggregating individual user preferences, but they often struggle with high-dimensional and highly sparse rating data commonly found in real-world scenarios. We propose Group Rank-Constrained Deep Matrix Completion (Group RC-DMC), a novel framework that extends RC-DMC by...

ParalESN: Enabling parallel information processing in Reservoir Computing

arXiv:2601.22296v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Reservoir Computing (RC) has established itself as an efficient paradigm for temporal processing. However, its scalability remains severely constrained by the need to process temporal data sequentially and the prohibitive memory footprint of high-dimensional reservoirs. To address these limitations, we revisit RC through the lens of structured operators and state space modeling, introducing Parallel Echo State Network (ParalESN).

Improved Approximation Algorithms and Hardness Results for Shortest Common Superstring with Reverse Complements

Announce Type: replace Abstract: The Shortest Common Superstring (SCS) problem is a fundamental task in sequence analysis. In genome assembly, however, the double-stranded nature of DNA implies that each fragment may occur either in its original orientation or as its reverse complement. This motivates the Shortest Common Superstring with Reverse Complements (SCS-RC) problem, which asks for a shortest string that contains, for each input string, either the string itself or its reverse...

Residual Reservoir Memory Networks

Announce Type: replace Abstract: We introduce a novel class of untrained Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) within the Reservoir Computing (RC) paradigm, called Residual Reservoir Memory Networks (ResRMNs). ResRMN combines a linear memory reservoir with a non-linear reservoir, where the latter is based on residual orthogonal connections along the temporal dimension for enhanced long-term propagation of the input. The resulting reservoir state dynamics are studied through the lens of linear...

Logitech G512 X 98 Review: A Hybrid Mish-Mash

We all remember the toys that tried to do too much. The RC car with flashing lights, wailing sirens, flip-out weapons, and a spring-loaded rocket launcher—you know the one. That’s how the Logitech G512 X feels to me.

OpenOpt: An Open-Source SRAM Optimizer Based on Equivalent Circuit Model

arXiv:2606.09129v1 Announce Type: new Abstract: This paper proposes a co-optimization framework that jointly optimizes SRAM architecture and transistor sizing using equivalent circuit models. The framework simplifies inactive SRAM cells into equivalent RC loads and static power models, achieving up to 61.4$\times$ simulation speedup while maintaining high fidelity (read/write delay error $<$0.22%, power error $<$1.68%). A joint search space encompassing architecture parameters and device...

Somatic cells non-autonomously control germline incomplete cytokinesis through FGF signaling

Across species, germ cells divide and differentiate as interconnected units, termed cysts. These cysts are generated through reiterative rounds of mitosis followed by incomplete cytokinesis to generate stable ring canals (RCs). Despite the ubiquity of germ cell incomplete cytokinesis, it is still unclear how this program is mechanistically regulated across multiple cell cycles to promote integrity of the cyst.

Evaluating Relational Reasoning in LLMs with REL

arXiv:2604.12176v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: Relational reasoning is the ability to infer relations that jointly bind multiple entities, attributes, or variables. This ability is central to scientific reasoning, but existing evaluations of relational reasoning in large language models often focus on structured inputs such as tables, graphs, or synthetic tasks, and do not isolate the difficulty introduced by higher-arity relational binding. We study this problem through the lens of...

Elon Musk is steamrolling Wall Street to become a trillionaire

Today on Decoder, I’m talking to Ryan Mac, a technology reporter at The New York Times and coauthor of the excellent book Character Limit: How Elon Musk Destroyed Twitter, which came out in 2024. I can’t recommend it enough. I wanted to have Ryan on the show because we’re on the cusp of the SpaceX IPO, which promises to be one of the most consequential public offerings in history for a variety of reasons — its biggest-ever size, of course, at nearly $2 trillion dollars, but also because all...
