Perfect codes in weakly metric association schemes

Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: The Lloyd Theorem of (Sol\'e, 1989) is combined with the Schwartz-Zippel Lemma of theoretical computer science to derive non-existence results for perfect codes in the Lee metric, NRT metric, mixed Hamming metric, and for the sum-rank distance. The proofs are based on asymptotic enumeration of integer partitions. The framework is the new concept of {\em polynomial} weakly metric association schemes.

Leopards, tigers and AI data, oh my! Nashville Zoo tries to halt proposed data center

A nationwide backlash against artificial intelligence data centers has a new ally: the leopards of the Nashville Zoo. The zoo, a popular destination in Tennessee’s capital city, is trying to block a proposed 69,000-square-foot data center from being built next door. The zoo says that the facility would be about 50 yards from some of its animals and that the noise could disturb its residents, including a leap of leopards that hail originally from Southeast Asia.

A New Method for Finding the Schulze Winner Set

arXiv:2606.02213v1 Announce Type: cross Abstract: We propose a new voting algorithm based on the pairwise majority-comparison matrix derived from voters' preference profiles. We show that this algorithm induces exactly the winner set of the Schulze rule (Schulze, 1997). Our algorithm successively eliminates weaker candidates in terms of all-pairs comparisons, thereby reflecting a dual spirit to Condorcet's original idea of splitting preference cycles (de Condorcet, 1785).
