Measurement of the X-ARAPUCA's Absolute Photon Detection Efficiency for the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment's Vertical Drift Far Detector

arXiv:2511.12328v2 Announce Type: replace Abstract: The DUNE experiment will implement a photon detection system composed of X-ARAPUCA (XA) devices. These trap incoming VUV photons by internal reflection in a wavelength shifter light guide to be collected onto silicon photomultiplier arrays, sensitive to visible light. In the baseline design, dichroic filters are used to prevent photons from escaping.

SIRT7 regulates dosage compensation and safeguards the female X chromosome

Abstract Sirtuins are deacetylases implicated in stress responses and longevity in mammals1,2. Although their differential impact on disease for the two sexes has been noted3,4,5,6,7, the underlying reasons are unclear. Here, using Sirt7 as a model in mice, we examine the mechanisms leading to sex differences and find that Sirt7−/− female mice have decreased fitness throughout their lifespan.

Reframing preprocessing selection as model-internal calibration in near-infrared spectroscopy: A large-scale benchmark of operator-adaptive PLS and Ridge models

arXiv:2605.13587v3 Announce Type: replace-cross Abstract: Preprocessing screening is often the most expensive part of a near-infrared spectroscopy calibration workflow. It works because smoothing, derivatives, detrending and related filters change the spectral directions seen by partial least squares (PLS) or Ridge regression, but a full external search repeatedly refits nearly the same linear model.

Memory-Efficient Structured Backpropagation for On-Device LLM Fine-Tuning

Announce Type: replace Abstract: On-device fine-tuning enables privacy-preserving personalization of large language models, but mobile devices impose severe memory constraints, typically 6--12GB shared across all workloads. Existing approaches force a trade-off between exact gradients with high memory (MeBP) and low memory with noisy estimates (MeZO). We propose Memory-efficient Structured Backpropagation (MeSP), which bridges this gap by manually deriving backward passes that exploit LoRA's...

PlayStation Architecture

Supporting imagery A quick introduction Sony knew that 3D hardware could get very messy to develop for. Thus, their debuting console will keep its design simple and practical… Although this may come at a cost!
